I heartily concur, GG. This is a satisfying double cd anthology, which succeeds in presenting a good career retrospective. Perhaps a slight negative with some of the material chosen for the second cd, where the quality slips just a little. The first disc starts with a nice selection of James Gang material, including the excellent "Take A Look Around", "Funk #48", "Funk #49", a long version of "The Bomber" and "Walk Away". Then comes about half the "Barnstorm" album, but only a couple of cuts from "The Smoker....".
The second cd starts off with most of the vital stuff from "So What", but lacks the definitive version of "Turn To Stone". Only a couple of tracks from "But Seriously Folks...." and NOT, very unfortunately, the fabulous "Theme From Boat Weirdos" instrumental. Real shame, because i'd rather have had the single edit of "Life's Been Good" plus "TFBW". Thereafter, tracks are taken from the subsequent releases, which arguably do NOT rate amongst Joe's finest. Four from "You Bought It.....You Name It" and three from "Songs For A Dying Planet". Personally, i'd have preferred something from the "Sick Mind" live album or an extra from "But Seriously Folks...", or "In The City". Those would have helped to maintain the highest quality right to the very end, and made this a fully five-star item. In spite of all that, a very worthwhile trawl through the ordinary, average guy's back catalogue.

We all know that some times record companys like to try and earn a few more bucks out of their artists by knocking out [best of`s] but! this is different, A fantastic collection that brings us right up to date!! starting with songs from the James Gang era to modern material a double CD with 34 toons. A bargain I would say and this is never far from my CD player , home , car or van! Ideal for those of you that want to explore the work of Mr Joe Walsh. buy a copy you will wonder how you managed without!
