The cultural dead are resurrrected and given the kiss of life by Lux and Ivy. Hard Working Man is Beafheart manpower, shirt tied round the waist, blue jeans thrusting, packed socks in the groin with the ripple of the muscle in the sweat of the day.
Miniskirt Blues unites two outre icons duetting philosophical tips on the leg curves from thigh to ankle and speculate on the joys of what lies above. Hipsville sees them maniacilly shaking to an early 60's beat. Cramps go groovy baby.
Home grown tracks celebrate various acts, positions and attitudes of ecsatatic bliss; Bend over I'll Drive screams Lux after one too little. Dames, Booze, Chains and Boots celebrates American masculinity 50's style, the existential outsider on a ride to venus. I wanna get in your pants; double entendre delivering a tumble on the dancefloor in an exchange to cross dress or simply an offer to derobe and exchange conjugal bliss. "Don't get funny with me" he screeches before noting someone has dropped an eyeball in his Martini.
The music is deft, fast, furious and purient. The 50's celebrated the release of the sex drive and Lux reworks it for the 21st C. Celebrated in Europe, the Cramps had a slow impact on the vast stretches from New York State to Nebraska.
Whilst men in black with pointy beards hailed the anti-christ in righteous fervour. The Cramps took the essence of hooven one to mean liberation; the archetypal European insoucience from the sanctity of original sin. Religion begone and enjoy your damnation.
Fun is encoded and DNA'd within the retro slabs of Gretsch n bass. Remember these sounds fought hard to turn back the massed hordes of pillowcase wearers from swamping the world with their brand of moral righteousness. Fun is lways a block away from being a hard fought right to strut the world in PVC, leather, mascara and paint the world in lurid tones.

I bought this to replace a copy I lost from years ago, I'd forgotten have fine this is. Brilliant, funny, dark. What's not to like?
