Product Description

Product Description

San Francisco band Journey's second and third albums, with the band having Neal Schon, Aynsley Dunbar and Greg Rolie as members. These recordings both made the US Top 100 in 1976 and 1977, but it wasn't until Steve Perry replaced Rolie as vocalist and the band moved away from their jazz/rock style that international success happened. Digitally remastered and slipcased, and with new notes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second and Third Journey Albums 20 Jan 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought these on vinyl when they were first released in the 1970's, this is the band Greg Rolie formed after leaving Santana, they were an experimental jazz rock group, Steve Perry did not join the group until their 4th album when the record company made them go more commercial or be dropped. These first 3 albums are quite different to the Steve Perry stuff. I've always liked these 3 albums 'cos they are slightly heavier more intersting to get into. When ever they have been reviewed in Rock magazines in the past when they have had a rerelease these 3 albums have always had medeocre reviews simply because the reviewer is comparing them to the Steve Perry era when you shouldn't, they were quite a different band when they started. Buy and enjoy but don't expect soppy love songs. Try the first album as well if you like the 2nd and 3rd albums. This music is for serious music lovers only, if you like for example some the Jeff Beck albums like Blow by Blow, Wired and There & Back you should enjoy the first 3 Journey albums only with vocals.

5.0 out of 5 stars LTBR-Production 18 Nov 2010

First, the remastered addition of these two albums is worth the price to a true fan of Journey's original sound and band. A fusion rock/hard rock sound, nothing, and I mean nothing like the pop rock that followed the original three. I have Journey's first album simply titled "Journey" but cannot find a rematered addition. To bad, because it is every bit as good as Future/Next. Excellent musicianship. So, if your looking to find some Steve Perry era Journey, keep looking.

5.0 out of 5 stars great music 2 Jun 2011

This is the best of Journey music out there.Very original!!What a shame, lots of other band did the same, when they "made it", their music became shallow and uninspiring, but $$$keep coming and more and more albums have been made...I will still get their 1st.album,which is very good, just waiting for a proper remaster
Where is the groove? Where is the spark? What is going to be the next? Album with Christmas carols?
Journey, even you are big now , you are going nowhere....
