5.0 out of 5 stars The best book on fashion ever?, 9 May 2006
Sorry to be over the top but this must rank among the best books on fashion ever ever ever (at least post 45) ever. Not only does it cover all the popular icons of our times - Elvis, Hendrix, Bowie, Jagger, yes, even Pete Doherty and Goldfrapp - but it details how fashion and style have developed, taking in everyone from Chanel and Stella McCartney and YSL and Katharine Hamnett and Galliano and Westwood to Jonny Rotten and Sid Vicious etc etc.
I've actually got a degree in this subject and there is stuff here I and my tutors have never even seen - shops like Universal Witness and Alkasura? Never heard of ithem but this book has photos and details of people like Bolan, Led Zep and Bowie buying their clothes there.
It's got a great CD with Bowieand Elvis on, and things like personal postcards from Joe Strummer and Paul McCartney dancing around in Soho.
I wish i'd had this when I was doing my finals!
