FROM WATERLOO TO HONOLULU – AN ILLUSTRATED GUIDE TO PANORAMIC PRIVIES

Product Description

The toilet – it’s small, functional and using it usually involves staring at a door. But for the water closet connoisseur, there are a handful of places where the loo is an area of outstanding beauty.

From such fascinating locations as the summit loo on Mount Sinai and Maharajas' thrones in India to safari loos in Zambia and ultra-modern, multi-functional facilities in Japan, this is a collection of the most uplifting vistas from the latrines of the world.

Answering the call of nature will take you from the functional to the sublime with the help of this, the ultimate good loo guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars No loo should be without a copy, 15 Oct 2008
This review is from: A Loo with a View (Hardcover)
This really is the most beautiful loo book ever written. Luke Barclay's quest to find the world's best views from loos is a fantastic idea, beautifully realised. We love it. It's charming, informative, funny and thought-provoking all at the same time. Don't know which is my favourite, it's just great to sit and dream. A gem of a book. No toilet should be without a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is nice; i like it very much [pardon the pun], 15 Oct 2008

This review is from: A Loo with a View (Hardcover)
a heart-warming travel book with a twist; the author of this book clearly has a symbiotic relationship with 'the toilet'. A light-hearted yet factually interesting read, the author's love of all things lavatorial clearly come through in his descriptive prose, and is interspersed with a dry irony that one could easily miss at first glance.

Some of the views truly are breath-taking, and are fascinating in their own right. And the devil is in the detail; the author is oft at pains to point out whether the aforementioned views can best be enjoyed experiencing a number 1, or a number 2. It is granularity such as this which is sadly lacking from so many works of literature today.

Ironically, the best place in the house to place this work could indeed be the toilet. Dip in and out at leisure, take in the anecdote on each page, enjoy the views and offer yourself a more dreamy and thought-provoking toilet experience. When you think of toilets; think of Luke Barclay.

all in all, a thoroughly entertaining read.

Surely the only book about loos with views you'll ever need. Unless there's a sequel, in which case you'll need both.
