5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous historical romance tail 21 Feb 2001
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
When she first learned her uncle sold her as a bride to Darther to pay off debts, Carrie Adams dreamed of the future for the first time since her parents died in the Minnesota Massacre. However, as her uncle said, Darther relates better with horses than with people and quickly ends her illusions by rarely coming home. Darther visits racetracks while expecting Carrie to keep the farm prosperous.

Desperate for help, Carrie hires the jailbird who is now in prison. Even if he escapes, she is no worse off than she currently is. Jonah Longshadow, a former Kiowa warrior, feels his pride cannot be battered any further. However, Carrie treats him like an intelligent, hard working employee rather than a half-breed prison laborer. Between them, a cornfield grows almost as golden as the love that flourishes. However, Darther returns like a serpent in Eden ordering Carrie and Jonah as if they are his personal chattels.

LONGSHADOW'S WOMAN is a fabulous historical tale that centers on the human ability to sustain hope even when injustice and prejudice occur if the victims share the load and a dream of a goal through love. The story line simmers slowly as the character development is key to the endearing plot. If the reader prefers a dashing duel of a plot they need to go elsewhere, but if they prefer a deep character study of nineteenth century America, Bronwyn Williams has served the audience with a delightful feast.

5.0 out of 5 stars THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE! 19 Sep 2002
By M. Hartmann - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
An intrigueing, heartwarming tale of a 19 year old girl who has made a determined effort to survive even under the worst of conditions.

Jonah Longshadow has learned to survive prison, displacement and harrassment during his 29 years. He was frugal and saved as others threw away their hard earned monies and bought his own farm and horses to raise.

Carrie Vander Adams helped save Jonah and his dream and even included two little orphans, Nate and Zac in her little corner of the world. Through hard work and shared meals this small group of people bonded and became a family.

Wonderful group of characters, even the dumb sheriff - I even got impatient with the judge toward the end.
Definitely recommended -- You will enjoy this story.
