Product Description

Michael Morpurgo is a master storyteller, former Children's Laureate and multi-award winner. This is a fresh reissue of a much-loved story with a beautiful new cover. This is another summer, another foster family. George has already made up his mind to run away, back to the children's home. None of the previous families have wanted him. Why should the Dyers be any different? But George begins to feel at ease with Tom Dyer and his sister Storme, even happy, and changes his mind. He could even feel at home with them - couldn't he?

This children's novel is about an orphaned boy called George who has gone from foster home to foster home only to be moved on to the Dyer family during the next batch of school holidays. The relationship between George and the family starts off a bit rocky, as George is used to caregivers being offhand and unloving. As the story progresses, the relationships George develops with each family member grows and blossoms. This closeness is threatened toward the end of the story which not only impacts upon George but the family unit as a whole. A great novel for children with a main character (George) who all readers will warm to! Highly recommended!

This was a really good book. It was short and easy to read. I loved it!

It is about a boy called George who has been in foster care for a long time. Each summer he goes to stay with a family. This year he goes to stay on a farm with a family. He isn't expecting very much, but he becomes friends with the children, Tom and Storme. Then the Mum gets ill. Will George be able to stay?

Long Way Home is about a 10 year old boy called George who lives in a care home. But the George gets fostered and his foster brother, Tom doesn't want him to stay. Suddenly there is a huge flood and all the farm animals are in danger. Tom and George need to do something fast, but will they ever become friends? This is a book that is full of adventure, and is very dramatic and exciting. If you like this book you will also enjoy Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo, and is like Harry Potter, but in a real world.
