Reviews

Presented by Mark Wiszowaty. We take a fascinating journey into the history of some of Britain's most interesting and unusual disused railway lines. With maps, photographs and interviews this series really brings these unique chapters from the past to life. Featuring: The Great Central Railway, The London Necropolis Line, The Bisley Camp Branch Line, The Cranleigh Line and The Filey Holiday Camp Branch Line.

NEST FILMS PRESENTS 'LONG LOST LINES'series one, the four dvd set is presented by Mark Wiszowaty.Written, and directed by Garry Nickols, series produducer is Gillian Kelly.

The set of four dvds feature the following railways:
1.The Great Central Railway.
2.The Necropolis Line.
3.Bisley Camp Branch.
4.Filey Holiday Camp Branch.
5.The Cranleigh Line.
Bonus disc, includes two hours of additional interviews,footage,present-day photographs, and a featurette of the rise of Beeching.

I found the whole set of dvds extremly interesting,I have not come across NEST FILMS before, but I could recommend this set of railway dvds to anyone who is interested in Great Britain's railway history.I have come across all the lines/stations mentioned in the series, but have never come across so much detail which you will find in this set of dvds.Another aspect of the films which I liked was all films come with interviews with people who used the lines when they were operational, and in many cases worked on them as well. The films also show what the lines look like today in 2011.
If I had to sum up the series one of 'LONG LOST LINES in one word it would be 'BRILLIANT',I cannot wait for series two to come out.
Thank you 'NEST FILMS' SUCH A BRILLIANT SERIES ABOUT LONG LOST RAILWAY LINES.

This dvd is an excellent example of a well produced and informative piece of work which keeps the viewer interested all the way through. All the details of the production are well executed. The camera work is exceptional, background music well chosen to highlight the mood of the section; the presenter is clear easily understood and the details of the history are well presented. I learned a lot about our railway heritage. Thoroughly recommended.Long Lost Lines - Series 1

I've never really been interested in Railways, Trains and Train spotting. However, a friend of mine insisted I watch this DVD. I was pleasantly surprised and I'm now a fresh convert. The documentary is clear, concise and accessible to the uninitiated.
