1.0 out of 5 stars Shame the KB ended so badly 29 Aug 2012
Format:Audio CD
I've been going to KB gigs since they first formed. I've got copies of EPs that are totally unavailable now. I loved the band and everything they stood for.

I feel like by this time though, Itch's ego had taken over. He's a great front man, but unfortunately that stage charisma doesn't come without arrogance. Before there was balance but now...

There are pop songs on this record. Not poppy punk songs about hanging landlords or reclaiming the streets, but full-on godawful pop songs. It might make all the young girls hearts beat faster, but it don't amuse this cynical old bastard. Wasted Words is probably the worst KB song. There are a few here to contend with it however.

I'm still not convinced Tim Armstrong from Rancid is actually on 'Booted out of Hell.' If he is, he doesn't add anything.

The band is clearly trying to experiment, but the album just sounds a mess. It hasn't got the charm of previous releases, and mainly feels stale.

There's auto-tune, and cheesy female vocals. It's perhaps not bad for a pop album, but aside from a few good moments, even the political lyrics feel tired.

Save your money, and if you haven't got them already, go buy any of their 3 other albums. They are all brilliant. Reckon they just done this one for the money.

Oh, and of course don't give up the struggle, there's battles to be fought :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars RIP The King Blues 12 Nov 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
If this is the end, then it's a great note to end on.

Not their absolute anti-establishment best, but still better than most.

5.0 out of 5 stars 10 OUT OF 10 28 Sep 2012
Format:Audio CD
The first song sets the tone for the rest of the album, awesome. Since buying the album, track number 7, "This is my home" was on repeat for hours, it is so cleverly written. Plus a bonus for a majority of people with a music taste, Gavin Butler from the Blackout drops by for a very rare bit of history for The King Blues. Album overall is easily worth the money, the best album of the lot, 10 out of 10. Spud - PS - reading reviews brought me so close to not buying the album, good job I didnt listen. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Sad to see them go
Their last, and not their best. Still pretty excellent, but not as catchy as punk and poetry. A bit more reggae than punk.
