Product Description

February 3rd 1959 was a date that would come to be known as one of the darkest in the history of Rock 'N' Roll. Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper were tragically killed in a fatal air crash on route to Minnesota for the Winter Dance Party tour. These outstanding rock 'n' rollers were in the prime of their careers and quickly gathering popularity all over America. Although their time was to be short lived, their influence on early rock n roll remains almost unmatched. Featured are 40 of their key hits including It Doesn t Matter Anymore, Peggy Sue, That ll Be The Day, La Bamba, Donna, Chantilly Lace, Big Bopper s Wedding plus many more. Also included are two radio announcements breaking the sad news of the tragedy. This is a special commemoratiive set that greatly highlights why Holly, Valens & Bopper will always be remembered as the pioneers of Rock 'N' Roll.

I have liked rock and roll music over 30 years now, in history the death of these three singers was one of the most saddest things that happened. I say three singers but most importantly there was four lifes lost in this accident, so I like to remember the four young lifes lost which three of them left their music to remember them by. The rock and roll singers we do rmember a lot are Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Cliff Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis etc. We remember these because they had more longer liife's so we attend to forget The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens a lot less. Buddy Holly did do more music and had lots more hits then the other two, to be honest when I got this collection I remember all Buddy Hollies but the other two onle Chantally Lace by big Bopper and Bony Maronie, Donna and Lets go by Ritchie Valens. But listening to this collection has made me realise how important the contribution of their music is to rock and roll, mention rock and roll people picture fast music with fast dancing. I feel Big Boppers humour in his music was 100% and listened to the Big Boppers wedding and Little Red Riding Hood time and time again, I would of loved to see what Music he could produce if he had of lived longer. To me he had a tallent of writing his own songs and music and having a humour in them which really put a new light on Rock and Roll, Ritchie Valens and Big Bopper didn't leave us with lots of songs but what they did leave us earned a great place in music history, I have alway loved the distinctive voice of Buddy Holly. This is a great album to listen to the three young lifes that left us their music for us to enjot.

A good compilation of the people who really made rock what it was back in the "good ole days". Buddy Holly, Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens really showed how much fun music could be. Well worth the money.
