Something about this is getting predictable; 9 singles, 9 historically amazing pop singles.
For almost 3 years, Girls Aloud have produced 8 of the best pop singles in the history of music, and 2 of the best pop albums ever. And single number 9 is no different.
At first listen, hardcore fans were a bit miffed at the similarities it shared with a b side to the single "Love Machine". The style is similar but Long Hot Summer is so much better.
First of all, the summery feel is very different to GA's normal style and suits them down to the ground. The vocals are very unusual for them with Cheryl taking a lot of the higher notes, and Nadine doing a rap. But it blends so well. This song is lyrically their best with classics such as "Cos boy i've seen your disco dancing with your pants on fire". The music is more original than anything other of the pop music out there despite it sharing some similarities to Androgynous Girls. This is an another amazing single putting it into my GA top 5 somewhere behind Love Machine & Wake Me Up. You have to love it, and it deserves to be number one.
NB: The b sides are recordings from their amazing live show, so buy both CD1 and CD2 if you really want a treat.

sometimes when i'm having a tough day at work I stick this on an immediately i'm carried away to the video heaven that is "GA Autos"....

It seems impossible for Girl's Aloud to release anything remotely 'bad', due to the fact that every single they have released to date has just got better and better, and with the release of 'Long Hot Summer', they have reached new hights. What a tune! Fantastic song to end Summer 2005, this will have you dancing around and singing along from the word go. They all look stunning in the steamy video, as per usual, during which they mingle around in a garage while suggesting "It's been a long hot summer and it's ninety five degrees in the shade..."... although I'm not sure the heat's due to the weather or the girls!
If this first single from the girls is anything to go by, the 3rd album is going to be the best yet. BRING IT ON!
