Singer-songwriter Harry Bird teams up with good friends the Rubber Wellies (Christophe Capewell and Maria Blackwell) in a British/Irish/Bilbaino folk con-fusion… Their first self-produced album, "Long Way to be Free", is an exploration of faith, love and displacement in a world made up of contradictions, that swings between intimate rootsy folk and a joyful assortment of quirky circus rhythms. Recorded over five months in five different countries, it is released on their own label Hot Drop Records.

Guitarista y cantante Harry Bird se junta con los Rubber Wellies (los Katiuskas) Christophe Capewell y Maria Blackwell, companeros de su sello discografico Hot Drop Records. "Long Way to be Free" es una exploración de la fe, el amor y el desplazamiento en un mundo hecho de contradicciones. Grabado a lo largo de cinco meses en cinco países diferentes resulta una alborozada con-fusión de estilos que mezcla el folk más tradicional e íntimo de las islas británicas con toques de reggae, klezma, americana y música latina. Es un disco que nace del disfrute de las actuaciones en directo de tres compañeros y que conlleva la emoción de sus convivencias en un viaje compartido sin acabar.

A fantastic album, great upbeat music which is really easy to listening to, with poignant lyrics and brilliant voices. Great to listen to in the car, or chilling out with a cold beer after a hard day. I think I would have to say Jon Lopez is my favourite song, though I actually first heard it up in scotland near Bonnie Glenshee.

I was sent this CD in the post today and we have played it non stop ever since. If Harry Bird doesn't have a fan club yet, he soon will. Who's gonna lead the march upon the jailhouse is my absolute favourite. Enjoyable music, with witty and thought provoking lyrics.
