Book Description

7 Oct 2002
It takes Fliss Blakeney one year, eight months and six days to work out that if she marries Richard Trevelyn she'll make the biggest mistake of her life. What she didn't count on was her younger sister, Sally, agreeing to become Mrs Trevelyn instead. Fliss can hardly believe it. Surely he can't make her happy? But with her sister adamant, her mother unyielding and her father no help at all, there seems to be nothing left for Fliss to do except sit back and let the ceremonies commence. However, when Richard's man-eating ex-girlfriend Kat enters the equation, life becomes a little more complicated. And the discovery that Kat's husband Alex is the most gorgeous man Fliss has ever seen creates a brain-teaser too puzzling for even the cleverest of scholars...

5.0 out of 5 stars Hello Alex Christian 6 Jan 2008
I thought this book was very funny and related to the character called Sasha, the mum with the kids and husband and no sex life! The book on the whole is very entertaining. The main character is Fliss who is engaged to marry Richard. Upon realising she no longer is in love with Richard, dumps him by saying "Richard, you are the weakest link, goodbye!", which I thought was brilliant. Fliss then has the 2 big shocks of her life, she finds out her best friend Caro is into "swinging", Richard the ex is marring her sister Sally-Anne! You will have to buy the book to find out how Alex Christian is!! On the whole, if you like Sarah Harvey, this is a brilliant book and a good laugh!

Sarah Harvey has come through with another terrific novel - funny and light, but keeps you on your seat nevertheless. Harvey proves yet again that she can develop characters that you get into, with dialog that is clever yet realistic. (Pet peeve - authors who can develop good story lines, but stink with dialog - Harvey consistently excels in this arena.) It's hard to do this story justice - The plot is fairly simple - Fliss, a school teacher, dumps her successful - but obnoxious to the nth degree - fiancé Richard. She gets away from it all, visiting her best friend - where she runs into a hornets nest of complications (to say the least). Coming back to reality, she finds her sister has taken her place as the next soon-to-be Mrs. Richard! If that's not bad enough, a devious, scheming ex of Richard's (Kat) has reappeared, with dubious intent. To wonderfully complicate things, Kat brings along her incredibly handsome, wonderfully intelligent, witty husband Alex. Now, of course, you know ultimately where this is all going to go - and it does indeed go there. But Harvey is adept at spinning an enjoyable tale (and does an admirable job of making me almost believe that two fabulous people like Fliss and Alex would have ever given the time of day to the likes of Richard and Kat!) Well worth the read - and read the rest of Harvey's while you're at it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Yet 28 Oct 2002
By A Customer
I've read all of Sarah Harvey's books and having loved every one, would find it hard to pick a favourite, but this would have to be it. I love the characters, our heroine Fliss and her lovable Dad in particular, along with poor sex starved Sasha, and the outwardly respectable but surprisingly kinky Caroline and David! The orgy scene made me wet myself with laughter, as did Fliss and Sally-Annes run in with the lobster who didn't want to be eaten, and Eric the dog's apt revenge on Rotten Richard in the final scene had me cheering my approval. I can't wait for the next book!
