This 29 track CD covers the King Records which were omitted from the previous compilation 'All My Love Belongs To You' on Varese Sarabande.
After that you have a fine helping of young Steve's early Coral singles up to and including his very first Coral album 'About That Girl'.
For someone so young his voice is magnificent and even from there early tracks you can tell the scene was set for a what was to come a fantastic
male singer lasting over 50 years.
Young Steve tackles everything from heart-rending ballads like 'Open Up
The Gates Of Mercy' swings out on 'Adelaide' from 'Guys And Dolls' and we even have his most sought after single 'Chicken & The Hawk'/'Speedoo'
here. Hit songs like 'Banana Boat Song' and 'Long Before I Knew You'
are also excellent. However it is when you reach his first album that you really understand what Steve Lawrence is all about. He can sing the pop songs, the novelties but also standards with great aplomb for aomeone
so you. Highlights of this section are a yet to be bettered 'My Romance'
and 'Like Someone In Love'
If you've never heard Steve's early tracks with Coral before this is a
perfect oppurtunity to so so. He's got to be the most under-rated male singer of his time
