This is a fantastic book, it's really a safari bible for the whole of Southern Africa - not only is it great for planning what you'd like to see and how to get there, it also gives lots of tips on how to get the most out of your time to tailor it to what exactly you'd like your experience to be. It is beautifully written and illustrated with a very handy identification guide should you need it.

When you come back and start planning your next African adventure it'll be even more useful.

Practical notes: The book is quite heavy (for a paperback) as it is written on very good quality paper so bear this in mind if you are going to carry it with you on your journeys, the phone numbers for the parks in it are up to date and the park information such as opening & closing times and tips on what to look for and where to explore are fantastically accurate.

If you're going to watch wildlife in Southern Africa then I heartily recommend this book - and it's a great book to dip into on your return to bring back fantastic memories - mine has a fine layer of sand trapped down the spine thanks to a small dust storm, every time a little bit drops out I remember exactly where I was and how much fun it was too.

Buy it you won't be dissapointed!

Very few animals are in the guide but there is an interesting description of all national parks in Southern Africa (Namibia, Botswana, Zambia) where to organize a safari. Thus I would not recommend it as a wildlife guide for understanding and recognizing animals. Rather, I would recommend it as a first guide for having a general idea about where to go for a safari in Southern Africa.

Very pleased with the book for my safari trip. My fellow travellers loved it too
and we all constantly refered to the book when in Kruger National Park.

For general information on Southern African countries and for a photopgraphic guide of the animals you are likely to see this is a worthwhile guide.
