We used this paperback edition on a recent trip to Argentina and found it very useful. In fact we based our trip on one of the suggested itineraries. Of course, the prices were way out - this is to be expected as the guide was publised in 2010 and Argentina is subject to high inflation.

The city maps were useful and accurate - as was all the travel information we gleaned from the guide. The short section on the history of the country was helpful and put in context some of the things we saw and conversations we had with locals.

A good guide - but this will be superceded when the new guide comes out in August 2012.

The format in which this guide is offered by Amazon is not easy to browse through. I found easier to use the PDF format I bought on the Lonely Planet website (and I use a Kindle).

No better guide out there 25 May 2010

You really can't get better than the Lonely Planet. It provides an excellent basic level of knowledge about a country so from there you can go on to do your own exploring. It is of course helpful to combine the guide with hostel owners knowledge and tips from fellow travellers as well as your own common sense.
