“I’m not the same guy.”

That’s certainly an understatement for Graham Colton. After a major label career, numerous TV appearances and the limiting musical peg of “singer-songwriter,” Colton has gone through a complete reinvention on his new album Lonely Ones.

Credit his reinvention to a few things: Colton’s return to the Oklahoma music ... Read more in Amazon's Graham Colton Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Graham's new sound is better than ever 21 Jan 2014
By NLeigh - Published on
Format:Audio CD
Whether you're a fan of alternative music, a diehard Graham Colton fan, or simply a fan of new and different sounds, you're bound to love Graham's newest album.

If you are familiar with his previous efforts, you won't believe your ears when you start listening to "Lonely Ones." Graham has promised a different sound and a different creative direction, and he has achieved it and then some. Rather than sticking to his traditional, straightforward singer-songwriter formula, Graham has achieved an atmospheric album filled with songs that are by turn moody, energetic, bubbly, and intimate. A few of the songs are darker than anything he's ever done before. Others have a cheerier sound than anything he's done before.

I can guarantee that the more you listen to this album, the more you will love it. The overall effect of this album is ebb and flow, as some songs wake and invigorate you, while others gently cradle you into calmness. Personally, I have found that I can't stop listening. It's that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alternative Masterpiece 22 Jan 2014
By WehoScott - Published on
Format:Audio CD
I've been a fan of Graham Colton's for a number of years now. Enough to take a chance and invest in Lonely Ones via kickstarter. I am so happy I did, and proud to have been part of this project in some way. Colton's musical progression is evident here. With complete creative freedom, he's gone into new territory by exploring different themes and incorporating current-sounding arrangements, many of them atmospheric and etherial. The songs are ear worms, and his voice has never sounded better.

If you like artists such as Matthew Perryman Jones, Carolina Liar and some of the other alternative artists out there today (such as Imagine Dragons), you will love this album.

2.0 out of 5 stars New sound a big disappointment for me 25 Jan 2014
By M. Menard - Published on
Format:Audio CD
It pains me to say, but this new album is a huge disappointment to me. I was one of the Kick starter supporters of this album, simply because I've been a huge fan of Graham for many years. As is stated in the write-up, this album is a big departure from any of Graham's previous sounds - and not in a good way. To me, Graham is at his best when he is stripped down, playing raw, emotional, acoustic rock. To me, this album tries way too hard to be "alternative" (whatever the heck that is anymore) and fails miserably at being a cohesive album with even one track that I can deem mediocre. Sorry to be so critical, but I was so eagerly looking forward to this album, it really left a bad taste in my mouth once I heard the drastic change in style and sound Graham went for in this release. I realize artists are always looking to evolve, but I certainly hope Graham digresses back to the melodic, acoustical songwriting that made me such a fan up to this album release.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great Originial 14 Mar 2014

An independent singer/song writer with great original material and unique style.
HANDS UNTIED - great single!
Love his acoustics which are my favorite.
If you ever get a chance to see him perform live, you won't regret it.
5.0 out of 5 stars New sound, new direction -- I liked the old, love the new 24 Feb 2014
By C. Burgin - Published on
Format:Audio CD
I have been a fan of Graham Colton since 2004ish, when I saw him perform in Chicago as the opening act for another band. At that time he was "The Graham Colton Band". I really enjoyed his performance and purchased a CD at the venue. Over the years, I have also enjoyed his subsequent music as an acoustic artist and a solo performer, as well as recorded tracks he teamed up with a band for. In 2013, I was privileged to support his Kickstarter campaign when he announced his energetic and ambitious endeavor to create a different, new sound and have not been disappointed! The sound and the lyrics definitely have a new, fresh vibe and it is just an all-around enjoyable and beautiful piece of work. The songs on this album range from haunting, to energetic feel-good (alternative) pop, to tunes that are filled with such beautiful poeticism and enveloping melodies, you never want them to end. This album is definitely recommended!

Besides his musical talents, the thing I really like about Graham is his attentiveness to his audience. I have never known any artist to keep in such close contact with his fans, via Facebook, Twitter, email, etc., and really encourage their involvement. He always sticks around after his live performances for signing, pictures, or just chatting. You really get a sense of the value he places on his fans.

I love this new album and have been listening to it over and over again... If you are an old fan, a new fan, or just happen to have ended up here looking for something different, you've come to the right place!
