Okay, I must admit that I bought this movie for purely shallow reasons, namely Joshua Jackson. Okay, now that's out of the way, on with the review.
This movie is a little slow to get started, but after the first 40 minutes or so it really gets going. Josh is his usual charming self as Earl, and DJ Qualls is hilarious as his cousin Junior.
The DVD itself has no extras, which is disappointing, but the picture is clear and sharp with great sound, all in all a good package.
I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a couple of hours of mindless fun, or if you like eye candy, Josh is in particularly fine form, with his Texas accent and cowboy boots, hehe.

This was a pleasant suprise. Not at all what I expected. The characters are manic and extremely entertaining. The plot is original and easy to follow. Never a dull moment with brilliant one-liners.

Joshua Jackson plays the boyfriend with a high tolerence level towards Dj Qualls character who has an astonishing lack of common sense with hilarious results.

Definately worth a watch.

In the small Town of Bennett, Texas, where they're is a shortage of smarts, events revolve around local Earl Crest (Jackson), who is the most sane & smart person in the Town it appears. As a set of bizarre characters & events unfold around his central character. His old pal's Junior (Qualls) & Tinker (Hurst) get themselves into trouble, when they rob a pizza delivery man, unknowingly that just so happens to be a drug courier carrying $20k in cash & bundles of drugs belonging to the local big shot drug dealer Mr. Smith (McMurray). Being a good pal, Earl tries to help the idiot duo not get themselves killed & act as an intermediate. Only problem is, Tinker has a grudge from the past and is unwilling to give up the stash so easily & they garner interest from local thugs. Comedy & mayhem ensue.

The story is pretty much by the numbers, however it's the oddball stereotyped characters & funny script that make this into a more watchable dark comedy as people get shot, run over & trade digits for mobile phones. Joshua Jackson (Fringe) is the young man with a weary soul beyond his years, that takes on the burdens of his pal's misfourtune, as well as trying to juggle his moving to L.A with his feisty 'Daisy Duke' fiance Baby (Jamie King- Hart of Dixie) who wants to be a famous soap star. With Earl as the straight guy it gives licence for the other cast members to be as crazy as they want, and they oblige. DJ Quall's (

Format: DVD
Featuring: Jamie King, Joshua Jackson, John Mellencamp
Rating: ** (not the worst, but not good)
This movie was a little shy of average. It certainly had it's moments though, one being Jamie King's portrayal of the lead female character, Baby. She shined as both the sensitive and driven young waif. As well as showing the flashes of anger that result if you cross her or her loved ones. Joshua Jackson did a fine job as the lead male character of Earl.
In a nutshell, Earl and Baby are planning on moving from small town Texas to big L.A. when all hell breaks loose around them. Nutty relatives, drug dealers, two-bit criminals and stupid folks abound. Through it all Earl, the normal one, and Baby, the sexy one, keep plugging away trying to move forward in their lives and help the ones they love.
Although it had a lot of cliches and was at times stupid there are worse ways to spend an evening than watching this movie. Jamie Kind is the one that kept this movie from a one star rating (don't bother). If you rent it, it should be for her performance alone.
