When i was young i spent much of my school holidays up in the West End visiting the many cinemas that are highlighted in this book.In those days big films were given a long showing in the West End before going out on general release.I used to go up town early and go to one of the many newsreel cinemas for a morning showing and then after lunch at a Lyons Cornerhouse go to one of the cinemas featured in this book to see a three hour epic.I feel lucky to have been around at that time so that i could see films in these marvellous picture palaces. The authors have found many wonderful photos of the beautiful interiors most of which were vandalised in the 1960s in the name of progress. To anyone interested in cinema buildings in general and the West End in particular i would highly recommend this book.
