This book is a definate keep sake for all theatre lovers. It is a wonderful collection of photographs and provides a detailed background to all of the theatres in London.

Filled with facts such as the history of each theatre and of its development. The photographs are colourful and are printed of the most excellent quality. The majority of photographs concentrate on the beautiful architecture that can be found in the theatres and its decorative design.

A piece of theatrical memorabilia of your very own to look at over and over again to indulge yourself of Britain's west end culture.

Really great book. 1 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
This is a really great book. It has all sorts of really interesting information and great pictures. Its has details from over 50 of Londons theatres and great pictures from all of them. The extensive information gives you key dates in the theatres history, cool facts and things of interest and a good history of each theatre. The foreword by Zoe wannamaker is also good. Please be aware that Zoe wannamaker didn't actually write the book although it comes up like that on the screen. Don't be put off though as this is a truely fantastic book.

Curiously this excellent book is publicised as though it was by Zoe Wanamaker whose name on the cover is in the largest font! She merely wrote the introduction but the real meat of the book are undoubtedly Mike Kilburn's witty and informative histories of each theatre in London, the distillation of very many years of research and study by an acknowledged expert who served London's heritage for over thirty years, finishing his career at English Heritage's London Division. His erudite text rich with a life-time's love of the theatre and its buildings shines through on every page, brilliantly supplemented by Alberto Azoz's evocative photography. Now in paperback it must surely be within reach of everyone who loves London's theatres and their rich architectural heritage.
