Wow, I brought the series on a whim - I used to watch it as a kid and enjoyed it then, but watching it so many years later I didn't realise how good it was. As previously mentioned it had a good mixture of black humour and gritty realism. The only offputting thing about the DVD is where the ad breaks were, there is a pause which can often last up to a minute. It probably could have been put together better and some extras wouldn't go amiss, but the series itself was excellent.

Classic series 12 Sep 2005
Format:DVD
All I can say is I'm glad they decided to release the series on DVD. IT was one of the best Dramas around and still was until the utter failings of series 13 and 14 which killed off the series. The original series was by all means the better. You get good value for the money this is a 3DVD set (not the 2 disk that amazon says) Disk 1 is the pilot episode and episode 1, Disk 2 is Episodes 2-5 and Disk 3 is the xmas special. Well worth collecting this classic series and relive the old days of good solid dramas.

After years of torment seeing Random, less popular series being commissioned ahead of it, one of the greatest shows (in it's original format)ever shown on ITV, London's Burning has finally been released in DVD Format. As one of the Shows biggest fans, I grew up watching the show from Series One, Right through to the disappointing final series in 2002. As a big fan I am obviously biased as to how good the show was but Series 1 will always be the best in my eyes- the stunts and shouts werent as spectacular or as big as later series but the wit, comedy and black humour mixed with the drama and emotion will never be beaten and I throughly reccommend this DVD to people who began watching the series in later years to snap this up and also to people who have never seen it as it is truly memorable TV, who can forget all the original cast? Bayleaf, Tate, Hallam, Josie, George, Kevin, Malcolm, Sicknote, Charisma, Tony and my Favourite Character of all time, Vaseline! I grew up with him as my hero and will never forget the times when his Boots Caught Fire, when He drove over the cat and at Christmas when he drove a Taxi into someones front room!! I associate many good times with watching this Series and I believe many more of you will too, I hope ITV start repeating this series to bring it to a younger audience as it is still well loved. Ladder 49 took this premise to the big screen and did well, Rescue Me however it cant even come close, The British do this best and London's Burning is a flame that will never be extinguished.
