I've bought a lot of guides since moving to London but this has been by far the best one. If you like old and cosy pubs this is the book for you. It tells you the best pubs and gives some history. Thanks to this book I've found some of my favourite places in London, I would recommend it to anyone.

Invaluable guide 5 Jan 2010
By CHIMPY
Format:Paperback
This is a great guide to some of London's best pubs and a bit of the history of each. In the main section pubs are grouped by geographic location but at the front there is also a handy list of which ones are best suited for a number of topics including food, music, history, garderns, riverside and even open fires and more.

Clearly a lot of thought has gone into this guide, maps with all pub locations are included and even has a tube map on the back page.

What a fun read! 20 Feb 2011
By Teksiz
Format:Paperback
I travel to London in two weeks, and I cannot wait to visit many of the pubs described in these pages. The book reviews 115 pubs, with full color pictures, histories, fun stories, etc., as well as gives information on how to find them and what kind of beers they sell. The book is divided into sections of town, but I also found helpful the "if you like" section. This has the best pubs for good real ale, architectural elements, historical significance and so on. If you love pubs as I do (and as the author does) you will love to have this book to digest. Of course, you will disagree on his list--why he leaves some that you dearly love out and why he included a few--but it's fun to discover new places to visit. The detailed introduction alone, which includes some basic pub history, is worth the price of the book.
