5.0 out of 5 stars A bargain and a treasure trove 13 Feb. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is great - an ebook compiling the last few years' worth of articles on London (covering galleries, shops, eats, drinks, accomm, walks, and tons of other odd/uncategorisable things) from the Guardian newspaper's travel section... ie just the sort of things you read about in the paper and think, ''ooh, must try that", then forget about it/throw the paper out.... so, great to have them collected in one place, for keeps - I've got it on my phone so it'll always be on hand. And the content is great - I've lived in London for 15 years but within half an hour or so of leafing through this I found out about two parks, three pubs, a set of caves, a jukebox shop and an enormous Hindu temple that I never knew were there... Bravo for this little bargain!

4.0 out of 5 stars book review 14 Mar. 2012

Offbeat and slightly quirky guidebook but just the thing for student just arrived in London. Gives ideas for things to do which aren't necessarily in more traditional guides.

1.0 out of 5 stars Headline 25 Jun. 2013

I expected something rather more comprehensive. It simply consists of a few rather quirky and disparate articles which might amuse and entertain but do not provide a guide to the city. It is far more imaginary than real.

4.0 out of 5 stars London for locals 26 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Not bad coverage for a "short book" compilation. Various authors on virus areas & topics of London life, with a few little intriguing gems thrown in, that you don't get in Time Out or Peter Ackroyds tomes

4.0 out of 5 stars A local's guide to London 13 Jan. 2013
By HT Luver - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Having been to London a number of times, I found the guide to be a very helpful resource.
Other guides about the main tourist attractions are plentiful and often overpriced, but this one is a gem.
Because London is so large, this guide is useful in grouping information by theme as well as by zones of the city.
Some of the restaurant/bar/entertainment tips could only come from locals and that's what's most appreciated by those who may only have a few days in the city.
In addition, the thematic organization helps one to narrow down and focus on attractions that will give the biggest bang for the buck.
Very useful, but it really has to be used in conjunction with "London A-Z" or another street-map intensive guide (or GPS/phone app) to find places and judge distances between them.
Nice to see detailed information about attractions and things to do that range from "conservative" to "quirky".
...and the price is very modest for London...Worth every penny.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad 3 April 2013

I'm glad I downloaded this kindle single before my weekend in London, but I found the guide hard to use -- especially without a map or illustrations. The suggestions seemed good though.

2.0 out of 5 stars It could have been better! 13 Dec. 2012
By Michelangelo Conoscenti - Published on Amazon.com

The guide could have been much more interesting, actually is, and useful, BUT authors never mention a tube station or a bus stop close to the place they describe. This is quite an inconvenience for a stranger. To counterbalance this flaw I had always to complete the info with another application or device to spot the place (Trip Advisor Off Line App for Android).
