Book Description

3 July 2003
What would the SAS do if a London Embassy was under attack? Re-live the account of an SAS hero who, along with his team members, storm the embassy to defeat the terrorists and rescue the hostages. His quick thinking and military prowess saved more than just his own life...As with the Warpath series, Eldridge brings the action alive. The Bookseller said of the Warpath series, "Stuffed with facts and specifications to delight the technically minded. Great for readers who like true stories". Placed within an historical context, these part fact, part fiction adventures of the SAS also contain fascinating information such as maps and equipment used, and provide an informative summing up of actual events.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets boys reading fast 2 Dec 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My son tore through most of the Eldridge books between the ages of 6 and 9. What's good about them - from his point of view - is that they are fast moving, action-packed, and have a real sense of peril.

As a parent I appreciate them on several levels:

First, they got my boy reading. These are books that can go head-to-head with Star Wars the Clone Wars and Halo. For some boys, lyrical evocations of Victorian childhood, or quirky tales with bottom humor are just not going to hack it.

Second, Eldridge never loses touch with the danger and consequences of war. In his books, guns are dangerous, bullets hurt. Sure, your child rides on the shoulder of manly men doing man stuff, but he experiences fear and understands it isn't a game.

Third, the books introduce the real virtues of soldiering. Eldridge's heroes achieve excellence by training hard, they succeed through planning and discipline and teamwork. This is not "My First Rambo Book".

Finally, Eldridge portrays the world "as-is". This isn't generic "abroad" as per Tintin or Scoobie Do. This is a world of gangs and militias, of poverty and corruption. You can't read these books without wanting to help.

1.0 out of 5 stars should be age restricted 28 Jun 2010
A Kid's Review
my 9 year old son came home from school with this book and i am disgusted that this is even allowed in the school. With all the problems and news they have to listen to do they really have to read about terrorist and taking "all three rounds in the head", talking about body bombs in the first chapter!!!!. Definately needs to be an older childs book!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars London Siege 4 Jan 2005
A Kid's Review - Published on
The story is about a siege on the Iranian Embassy in London based on the real life situation in 1980 on the Ajanian Embassy. Six terrorists storm the building and take twenty six hostages, demanding the release of their 91 `fellow comrades' in Ajan. The S.A.S. was called in straight away and put on stand-by until the right time came for them to enter. Each day the terrorists got weaker and weaker with stress and anxiety and began arguing with each other. They released four hostages over four days. The police were able to get the terrorists identity by sending them food in a steel box, the box was then passed back to the police and the six men's finger prints were all over it, the S.A.S. men then memorised the facial features of the terrorists. Finally the S.A.S. were called in after the leader of the terrorists, Salim assonated one of the hostages. They killed five of the terrorists and took one prisoner. Just like the siege in 1980 where five terrorists were killed and one was captured.
