interesting & fun 30 May 2008
Format:Hardcover
I bought this for my 6.5 yr old (in Year 2) who is doing a school project on the Fire of London. It has several pages showing different periods of London history - Romans, middle ages, Tudor, fire of London, 18th Century, Victorian, Blitz, modern. Each page has a detailed picture with lots of flaps to lift to see inside buildings, transport, underground, etc and captions with information about London during that period. My daughter really enjoys looking at it and has learned a lot in a fun and visual way. I'd recommend it to anyone - I found it interesting too! It might also be helpful for children who aren't keen readers as it's fun and interactive and it manages to include a lot of historical detail using pictures and short captions. I am now thinking of buying one or two other "See Inside" books.

As a qualified City of London tour guide I have to say this book is superbly accurate. Each of the double page spreads show a scene from one historical period. Everything looks right, including showing the Medieval Saint Paul's cathedral, which must be the product of working with the Museum of London.

Sturday card flaps should ensure that you get years of use out of this book.

See Inside London 24 Oct 2010
By Evie
Format:Hardcover
I bought this for my three year old grandson, thinking it will keep until he is older. He loves it. The information is presented in clear short sentences. He loves lifting the flaps and finding some surprising turns of events. It's a brilliant way of getting young children interested in the history of London. I would say this would be a good book for children right through the primary school years.
