Cover artwork by Roger Dean, music of Pink Floyd performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. You now it's going to be class and it is.

I bought my CD at a second hand stall at St Albans market. It cost me £7.50, rip off? No way, as I have played this to death. My CD is poorly, cough cough, scatch and a jump, not long for this world. Sorry but a cassette is just not good enough. I suppose it is if you haven't heard it before.

With this CD I also got a mint booklet, maybe the previous owner didn't realise it was there. Not counting the covers, there are eight pages to the booklet. Pieces written by the arranger Jaz Coleman and Roger Dean. Good read.

All the tracks are glorious, my favourite is track 8 Nobody Home. It starts with the orchestra sweeping in and washing over you. Then a lone, almost Yiddish sounding violin takes over, very moving. The two pieces called Time, first track and last track are different. In fact the the last track time, is called in brackets {THE OLD TREE WITH WINDING ROOTS BEHIND THE LAKE OF DREAMS MIX} This has the noise of a sleeping dragon, I kid you not! Epic.

So if you happen to come across this in a shop? Don't take it to heart if you are pushed to oneside by a desperate man who grabs it. My need is greater than yours, forgive me. As I have a CD at home waiting for it's last rites, goodbye old friend.Sob.

I've been a Floyd fan a long time, and I first heard DSotM performed live in 1972. So I bought this record with some considerable trepidation, not sure whether it was possible to transfer the spirit and not just the notes of the music to an orchestral setting. But my doubts were completely dispelled on first listening.

The reason for the success is that arrangements on this record are not just orchestral facsimiles of the Floyd originals, but they also bring something new and substantial to the music. But also the arrangements made me realize anew just how many great tunes that there are in the Floyd's music, tunes that I had been taking for granted all these years.

I found the two takes on "Time" (at the beginning and end of the record) the least successful adaptations, in particular version at the end, which has extremely annoying the phasing of the music from one side to the other and back again. However, the other tracks on the record more than make up for these two tracks.

So if you love the music of the Floyd, and you're still sad that there won't be any more, this at least brings a new perspective to one of the Floyd greatest classics. And it has me hoping that orchestral versions of "Meddle" or "Wish You Were Here" are in the pipeline somewhere...

Being a true rock fan, and not really into classical music, I was a bit sceptical, but I remember my father having the Philharmonics version of the Beatles, and remembered how good it was, so gave this a go.

Wow! I find most Pink Floyd songs get the hairs up on the back of your neck, but this does it 100 times over! The music lends itself perfectly, and Us and Them (my favourite Floyd track) is probably my favourite on this album too, closely followed by Time (the second version, track number 10). It really does transfer over suprisingly well to this medium, and even if you aren't a lover of classical music, you will love this! Best listened to with headphones on loud, and lights down low!

Not the greatest arrangements of The Floyd I've heard, but, after a few plays, it's OK. The stereo image is very good so sounds impressive on a decent system.

It's one of those things that shouldn't work, but somehow does. Over all a good listenable album, but I can help feeling that from a musically technical point of view, the score arranger could have made more of the percussion section and missed the point a few times. Having said that, I am pleased with my purchase. It shows how good the original Music is.
