Product Description

Product Description

For readers who are tired of the promotional fluff and brochure-speak that characterizes most travel guides, here s a fresh voice. The Irreverent Guides offer an insider s look at each destination, and take a fun, honest look at everything they review. It s not every day you open up a guidebook to find categories like: c Won t bore the kids c Eurotrashiest hotels c Was that RuPaul in the elevator? c Hotels for people who hate conventioneers c Luscious love nests and lavender lodgings c Restaurants that don t live up to the hype c Swingin supper clubs with attitude c Painting the town with three babes and a bus The Irreverents give you the lowdown, the inside story. They have nothing to sell but the truth, which includes a balance of good and bad. They praise, they trash, they weigh, and leave the final decision up to the reader. Our writers take a special pleasure in leading you where other guides fear to tread. Look for a brand-new cover design this season!

Written in the voice of an extremely out of touch dowager, this book is an utterly unreadable mish mash of irrelevant dish. An example of this really annoying tone as applied to her comments about the Metropolitan Hotel. "London's latest louche pocket grand, from the owner of the Halkin, is to it's neighbors-the Dorchester, Four Season's, Grosvenor House- as Kate Moss is to Liz Taylor. Gag me with a louche......

This is fantastic for anyone planning a trip to London town, it really helps you make the most of London. All the places a normal tourist just will not find are in this neat book and its not like other guidebooks we have used. If you are going to London buy this book and see the best of this great city.
