I bought this book thinking cynically that I'd never be able to afford to shop at any of the places she recommends, but it isn't true. This book is an excellent reference of the best places in London to buy stuff, divided up by category (antiques, clothes, books, etc) or geography. Her coverage is thorough and to my surprise she doesn't just recommend places like Harrods or the Ritz but includes Boots, Superdrug, M&S and the like. Her knowledge of markets and good places to get high quality clothes second hand is invaluable. As a working holidaymaker she introduced me to a side of London which I hadn't known. And she was right about the Ritz being a once in a lifetime indulgence. Unfortunately the bus ride home through Brixton after brought me back down to earth a little too roughly.
I'd recommend this book to all tourists, working holidaymakers, and even locals who love to shop.
