Contrary to a comment on the previous collection, 1960, these do not leave the Ace collections 'cold'! They are cheap & they have the popular singles that Ace leave out because they appear on so many other collections. That is why they are a good buy, they are double CDs & collect a lot of the London releases for each year together in one place.
However, also as pointed out in one of the 1960 reviews, there are errors. On this one I noticed immediately that the recording of Dance with me, whilst it is by the Drifters, is not the original, hit, version.
It is a re-recording from a later period & possibly therefore breaks the 50 year copyright legislation?
Things like this lead you to the conclusion that the collections are shabby at the very least but they are still very collectable for the overall content. It is just a crying shame, particularly in the case of this record which is a classic, that they can't be more careful when sourcing the original recordings!
The Ace collections are more professional & still collectable because there are relatively few overlaps between the two.
