* The contents of the 1962 volume embrace teen, country, early soul, R&B, rock'n'roll, instrumentals and comedy and accurately sum up the label's entire output for that year (166 singles in total). Many of the era's biggest names are featured, and several of the biggest hits.
* The tracks also demonstrate how American music was adapting itself to the demise of rock`n'roll in the pre-Beatlemania years in diverse ways.
* Of the 28 tracks, only four have previously been released on Ace. Additionally, 18 of the tracks are presented directly from the same tapes that were used to manufacture the original London 45s.
* This is sure to please everyone who bought the previous two volumes. The next volume to be issued later this year, will be Ace's first backward dip as we turn the spotlight onto 1959.

This review is from: The London American Label Year By Year: 1962 (Audio CD)
Third in the series so far and even better. As usual from 'Ace' the booklet, the sound quality are excellent. The music on this cd is superb, what strength in depth. All the usual giants are present and sound fantastic; Roy Orbison, Del Shannon, the Drifters etc. Good to hear songs by other great artists such as the Chantels, Ketty Lester, Ernie K Doe and Charlie Gracie. My favourites are 'Pretty susy Sunshine' Larry Finnegan, the wonderful 'Just a little bit sweet' Charlie Rich, 'She's a troublemaker' the Majors (what a fantastic voice Ricky Cordo had) but the cherry on top for me is 'Ecstasy' by Ben E King which is worth the admission price alone. Don't delay buy today!

1962 just before the 60's started to swing, just before the Beatles, woodstock, hippies, the pill, the vietnam war etc, back when music did'nt take itself too seriously ! The tracks on this CD are in glorious mono they way they were meant to be heard. 1962 was effectively the closing stage of the great rock'n'roll era just as Dylan said "the times they are a changing". However put this CD on close your eyes and you'll be transported back to that simpler gentler world. This is rock'n'roll in its purest form mixed with some beautiful ballads - all original tracks by original artists. I fully intend to buy the rest of the years available in this series! And as a bonus the linear notes booklet that comes with the CD is awesome !! BUY BUY BUY BUY !!!!!!

Ace comes up trumps again,
This review is from: The London American Label Year By Year: 1962 (Audio CD)
This third CD in the series brings together another eclectic selection of tracks released in the UK on the London American label. Some are familiar, but there are some undiscovered gems too. Great listening. I will be collecting the whole series as each new one becomes available. Highly recomended.
