Product Description

"On the third night the worst nightmare -- the very worst -- invaded my mind. Loping behind me was a gigantic wolf, its jaws snapping together and tearing off pieces of my flesh. There was no blood. No pain. But bit by bit he swallowed chunks of my body until nothing of Angela Laxness remained."
When Angie dreams about being devoured by a giant wolf, her parents tell her it is only her imagination. But later, while on a vacation in Iceland with her grandfather and two cousins, she begins to wonder if the dream wasn't a warning. First, there are strange scratches outside her window. Then she finds out that sheep have recently been disappearing from her uncle's farm. But it isn't until she and her cousins go to the old croft house that they discover the horrifying truth.

The Loki Wolf is a Northern Frights book, a series of novels based on Norse mythology. Draugr, the first book in the series, was nominated for a Saskatchewan Book Award and a Small Press Book Award.

What would you do if your nightmares started coming true? That is what happens to Angie, while on vacation over Christmas holidays with her grandfather and cousins, visiting the ancestral home in Iceland. The Norse legends the family grew up on seem to be coming to life again. With a mix of dead relatives, rumors of a shape shifter and strange encounters, this family vacation has turned into a nightmare.

Can Angie and her cousins put the pieces of the story together and solve the mystery? With the aid of their uncle's farm hands, can these four youngsters stop an old evil that is rising again?

There are three books in the Northern Frights series by Arthur Slade and these books were published under the name Arthur G. Slade by Orca Book Publishers. They are some of his earliest published works, each story based on Norse mythology. Currently out of print, but they are really worth tracking down. They are incredible stories by a master storyteller.

The Loki Wolf, By Arthur G. Slade 25 Feb 2003

The Loki Wolf is an exciting thriller. Based apon old Norse myths, the author seems to make ancient Iceland legends come alive in a modern setting. The author Arthur Slade was able to make the setting and characters seem real. His depiction of the Loki wolf was cleverly done, and the story behind it was well thought out and interesting. A cliff-hanger, this story has several exciting parts before it hits the climax. It kept me guessing throughout, as it contains some components of a mystery as well. The Loki Wolf was well worth reading and I suggest it to anyone who enjoys a good thriller or mystery.
