I always avoided those awful earphones Apple used to bundle with iPods and iPhones - hopefully the new EarPods are better but the original earphones were awful and never revealed how good iPods and iPhones can actually sound. My current pair of Sennheiser headphones (my latest in a long line of Sennheisers) needed replacing so I took a chance on these Logitech UE4000's and I'm glad I did. Normally I'd say that headphones can't have too much bass but these might have me eating my words - there's so much thumping bass here that I had to check the EQ settings just to make sure I hadn't left something switched on - I hadn't.

Logitech have given the UE4000's a sleek, uncluttered look and they feel solidly made, if slightly heavy for their size. The fit on your head is firm but comfy and they should stay in place for your entire trip to work - although joggers might want to look elsewhere. The entire tangle-resistant cord connects/disconnects from the headset (using a standard 2.5mm plug) which makes tucking it under clothing a bit easier and means that if the cord breaks or wears out (as they often seem to) you can just replace it - they're available from the Logitech website. The connection into the headset feels secure and hopefully Logitech have fitted a good quality socket into the headset so it never develops that crackly, cutting-out fault that can happen, otherwise there's little advantage in replaceable cables. At the iPhone end the cable has a right-angled plug and I'm not convinced that was a great idea, it's just being pulled straight again most of the time. No part of the headset folds or pivots flat for storage but you do get a very nice zip-up and fully-lined storage bag to pack them in.

After owning these for a couple months I do agree that sometimes the bass can be a bit over the top and the highs sometimes not all there, but they weren't designed to be 100% accurate.

If you listen to music that has good basslines, punchy notes and also requires decent reproduction of mids then go for these, I couldn't wish for anything better at £16.

Now I say that the highs aren't amazing, but at least to me as a generallydrum'n'bass/rock/metal listener they really didn't sound bad either.

If you can get past that fact that these are designed to sound more "musical" and less accurate then definitely go for them.

Pros:
Good quality bass with a decent rumble.
An open feeling, non-fatiguing sound.
Comfortable over-ear position.
Mids that are there to please.
Lightweight and quite small so portable.
Look great!
Seemingly sturdy construction, headband backed by stainless steel.
Inside part of headband is rubberised over the cushion, so they won't fall off easily (tested myself and are secure even when whipping head facing down towards the floor).

Cons:
Highs aren't all there.
While comfortable for about 4-5 hours the over ear design gets a bit achy on the ears but a 5 minute break fixes this.
£79 would be a little much for this product, but as a student I'd still pay £40 for them.
Not much of a problem for me as an Android user but inline controls don't work aside from central button activating Google Now.

I bought these as a quick replacement for my more expensive headphones when they broke. For the money, these are fantastic. The colour is gorgeous and the sound is great for the price. My one complaint would be that they have a bit of soud leakage when played loudly, but not enough to cause a problem. I'm not a headphone expert, but these are pretty good in my opinion. They can hurt your ears if you wear them for too long, and are better suited for smaller ears. They are comfortable, and block out outside sound pretty well!

The sound quality for this kind of money is decent.

But... the plug which is on the headphones side of the cable is constantly ripping of and I receive a mono sound experience due to that fact:(

They look good and the audio quality is ok when they work, but the right speaker keeps turning off due to the way their plug is designed - I could only use them when standing still. Also keep in mind that volume control will not work on Android devices.

Delivery v good. Product is OK for the price.
Not a bargain even at £16, sound quality is lacking. Happy enough considering how cheap they are but nowhere near the bargain I hoped for. If I'd paid mode than £25 for then they'd have gone back straight away!
What HiFi review says "amiable sound and style, the UEs lack real conviction" and "vocals feel submerged in the mix". I agree with that completely, some tracks sound like the vocals are recorded somewhere down the corridor!

I bought this after an email from 'Save The Student', as I thought it was an amazing offer. Don't get me wrong, it is, however I would say just shy of £80 for these headphones is never worth it.

The first thing I noticed was the slick packing, and nice design. ~ They are nice to look at, a good start.
The second thing I noticed was the fact that the cable slips out very easily from the headphone end, which can get really annoying and needs regular adjustment if on the go: A little nudge could loosen it.
The third thing I noticed was this: Small nudges/movements at either end of the cable either cut off one of the speakers, or distorts the sound.

I bought these as a replacement for my £50 Sony headphones, which broke from wear and tear, and unfortunately its quite a step down. (Especially considering they should cost £30 more) The sound quality isn't the best, not horrible, in fact very good for £14, slight distortions here and there can be a nuisance. I have not noticed an unusually high bass like a few others, and the mid range and treble are all fine.

The volume control and mic work well, and the volume control works with my mac too, which is nice. The only reason I decided upon 3 stars instead of 4 was the cable issues. Everything else is 4 star worthy.

It also arrived 1 day before the estimated delivery time, which was a pleasant surprise!

I wouldn't pay £80 for headphones, especially not these, however £14 is a decent price for what you get here.
