To make video calling even easier, use new Logitech Vid video calling software, free with your webcam. can make video calling easy.

Vid keeps things simple from the start. It's set up when your webcam is. So you're ready to call right away. In fact, you can set up Vid in half the steps it takes with major instant-messaging services. When you make a call, Vid connects you to friends using their email addresses. No screen names, extra accounts to create, or third-party software to download. And Vid works whether you're using a Mac or a PC computer, a stand-alone webcam or a built-in one

Other free software offers video calling as another hard-to-find feature in a long list of features. Vid presents a simple, intuitive interface where every element is designed to help you make a video call the moment your webcam is ready. Each of your contacts is represented by a thumbnail picture. Simply click the picture of the person you want to contact and Vid starts your video call. Click. Chat. Simple as that.

Free for all - Invite and add friends using their email address.
Vid software is free with your new or existing Logitech webcam. It's also free for everyone you invite to connect with you, regardless of what webcam they have. Want to add a friend to your call list? Simply choose “Add a friend” to send them an email invitation and software link. Once they sign up, you're both set for free one-click calling—no strings attached.

Crisp, clear, full-screen viewing powered by the Logitech SightSpeed network.
All of this simplicity is powered by the Logitech SightSpeed network, a groundbreaking framework designed specifically for video calling. It's also how Logitech Vid can deliver such crisp, clear video and audio without compromises or complications. See how real video calling can be with Logitech Vid and QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac.

Ultra-smooth AutoFocus with Carl
Zeiss optics keep your image
razor-sharp
Ultra-smooth AutoFocus with Carl Zeiss optics keep your image razor-sharp
Say goodbye to fuzzy video calls. Every feature is designed to make sure you always look and sound crystal-clear on camera. It starts with Carl Zeiss optics, the world leader in high-precision camera lenses. And the ultra-smooth AutoFocus keeps you looking sharp—even in extreme close ups and when you move around.

True 2-megapixel sensor for vivid HD quality video
Webcam makers like to talk about their high quality video. What makes Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro different is the combination of features designed from the ground up to give you clearer, crisper, smoother video conversations. That includes nearly double the pixel resolution of standard 1.3-megapixel webcams. So your video image is visibly more detailed and truer-to-life. That goes for photos, too, software enhanced up to 8.0-megapixels. Starting now, what your callers see is what they get—the real you.

RightLight2 Technology corrects for
poor light so you look just right
RightLight2 Technology corrects for poor light so you look just right
Wouldn't it be great if your friends and family could see you in the perfect light—without having to adjust a single light in the room? That's the beauty of built-in RightLight2 Technology. It automatically adjusts and balances brightness so your video calls always look clear, crisp and shadow-free—even in dim light or tricky back- and side-lighting.

High quality built-in microphone for clear, natural conversations
Some conversations are soft whispers, and others, loud laughs. Either way, this integrated premium microphone makes sure you're clearly heard—even from several feet away. And if you want some "audio privacy" during your video call, it's as simple as wearing a headset.

Built-in universal clip attaches easily to any Mac monitor or notebook
You want a webcam that fits whatever Mac you own. Consider it done. The integrated adjustable mounting clip is designed to easily attach to any Mac—thin screen, widescreen or anything in between.

Works with all instant messaging programs for hassle-free calling
All you need for video calling is the webcam, a high-speed Internet connection and software with video calling capability. We recommend Logitech Vid video calling software for fast, easy and free face-to-face connections. You can also download other IM programs online. Unlike some brands, Logitech webcams work with all instant messaging programs-yours and whomever you call, so getting connected is hassle-free.

This is the current solution for all of us Mac Pro users, after Apple' s decision to abandon iSight production. It' s expensive, however, compared to similar-spec' ed windows offerings - why are we mac users still expected to pay a premium over windows users for what seems to be just a good mainstream webcam? Works ok on the MacOSX, the sound quality is very good and the image quality that is possible with this cam could be very good too, but: Skype drives the cam in a lower resolution and frame rate than the windows version does, and similar comments apply to PhotoBooth (lower than possible resolution and poor auto focus handling). The cam delivers much better IQ when on Windows XP, but I can' t find a way to turn the mic on!! The camera is plug-n-play, no drivers needed, but I would feel more comfortable if it had an on/off button on it... Cam has a very nice design and a smart way to fit any screen, although it has no springs or something to keep it firmly attached.

Images from this camera are truly great, crisp and clear, colour balance is also spot on most of the time and it quickly adjusts both colour and focus automatically within about one second, can be quite noticeable if you move it around a lot. One thing I would say is that the view is surprisingly wide angle, much more so that other cams I have used, I would say it was equivalent to about 20mm lens on a 35mm camera. This has the benefit of getting more of the background in but not brilliant for 'portraits' which of course, is the main use.

The camera is designed for Mac in that when you plug it in it works straight away but I would question the 'benefit' of having no software to load as this probably means it may not plug and play with future Macs or OS versions. I would have preferred an upgradeable software and firmware solution.

In terms of casing design, it's PC through and through, I would say the styling is spot on for a Sony product but does not fit into the Apple styling ethos at all, having said that, if Apple are going to pull out of manufacturing peripherals such as webcams and monitors of differing sizes, we are going to have to delve into the PC world at some stage, so it's a reasonable compromise.

The worst and quite annoying aspect of this and many other cams is the design of the stand and cable, stability is not good at all due to the fact that the cable emerges from the top camera part rather than the base, which would make more sense, I've wired it to the base and it's already much more stable. Also it's the wrong way round, two legs folding down on the outside would be much more stable than the central block acting as a base. What is it about firewire cables?

I only got this web cam today so I may update this review later. First impressions are very good indeed.

I use an Intel based Mac Pro with Leopard. I was a bit miffed to say the least that buying a Mac Pro meant you had very limited options of webcams just because the isight had been discontinued and the descriptions on what the webcams could or couldn't do was misleading. I have recently tried the Ice cam 2. This is an ok cheap webcam but the edges of the image were a bit soft and the image dark. I had to use a third party application galled iglasses to brighten up the image. It worked very well but I thought the image quality was a little poor for the money. I'm happy to say that the Logitech webcam is MUCH better and IS worth the money despite being double the price.

There are hardly any instructions to follow, it is pretty much plug in and go! The camera feels very solid and looks the business. It feels like a quality camera rather than a cheap nasty one. The picture quality is amazing, crisp, clear and bright. The camera adjusts itself automatically to differing lighting conditions and also uses a very quick auto focus system. It can focus on very close subjects as well as far away and it does it quickly and effortlessly.

The colour balance of the camera is excellent, wave goodbye to horrible colour casts! I found the camera to give good results in low light and bright light, it really is streets ahead of anything else I have seen or tried.

It has a fairly weighty stand on it so it isn't so susceptible to being knocked over. I haven't tried it on a laptop screen but it looks like it would cope with it ok.

It has a very wide angle lens compared to others I have seen and used. This is good but if you get close up it can make your nose look a bit big and your ears disappear.

Overall an excellent camera I cannot recommend highly enough, BUY IT!!

I bought this camera after compatibility issues with other cameras and my mac mini. This one worked as soon as it was plugged in and has excellent picture quality as well as a decent mic. Recommended for people with Mac Minis...

I had been looking for a web cam with built in Mic to go with my MacMini connected to my main TV in the living room. Fantastic picture quality and sound recorder is very accurate and clear.

Speaking to my parents in South Africa through Skype they can not only hear us sitting 4m away easily without the need of shouting but can read the clock on the wall some 10m away.

Excellent, worth the price tag. Would be good if it had a zoom though...
