I bought the mouse and keyboard combo a few days ago and have now gone back to my old fashioned wired versions. The keyboard in particular disconnects with annoying frequency, taking some time to reconnect. It has been through the discovery route twice today and finally totally refused to connect. It is now sitting dangerously close to a bin.

The keyboard also looks cheap, feels cheap, the LCD is of no use what so ever. Its angled so that all you see are reflections.

Used to like Logitech, but will carefully consider getting anything by them again.

Mx5000 - Essential 4 Nov 2005
On average, I go through about 2 keyboard/mouse sets a year. It started when wireless came into the frame, but the mouse lag was too much! I upgraded too a bluetooth set a while back, which was all right to certain extent, but time it took upon start-up to recognise the mouse, then the keyboard, it was too much! Then the mx5000 came along. I had read about it a while back, and was quite interested, as it was bluetooth 2(faster than the "old" bluetooth 1) and included Logitech's new laser mouse. So I ordered it as soon as I saw amazon was selling it.
Now that its here, and all set-up(which took a while, but set itself up, joy!) I can report that it is an amazing peice of kit! Fast, precise, and designed in a way that makes the user's life so much easier. The LCD display in particular is a fantastic addition, allowing you to scroll through your playlists (I use itunes) and select your songs. It shows incoming e-mails from your chosen account, including hotmail, and, a nice little touch, shows the temperature in the room. It even greets each user by name when they log on!
The mouse is astounding! Fusing Logitechs mx laser with bluetooth makes for an incredibly accurate, comfortable, lag-free mouse for those long strafing sessions.
All in all it's an amazing package, and one which i'm sure will break my spending habits!

I give this product ZERO stars actually - because as well as being seriously flawed, it's also expensive. I bought this as part of a new PC package from Evesham, and it's been the single worst thing I've ever bought (do manufacturers ever test anything anymore?)

If you search the web you'll find others having the same kind of problem with this product: appalling bluetooth connectivity.

Firstly: You'll be happily using the mouse and it'll just grind to a halt for about 5 seconds, often as frequently as once every 20 minutes. I have the bluetooth receiever USB dongle in a port which is only inches from the mouse, so I know it's not a range issue. It's also not a driver issue as I have the latest ones (and have tried all the workarounds). I can rule out a wider USB problem with my PC as I have lots of other devices which work perfectly.

Secondly: The keyboard connection is more stable but prone to one of the most maddening, keyboard-thumping inducing connectivity issue I have EVER come across. If the keyboard is sitting idle for a few minutes, you sometimes go to use it (type an email or whatever) and the first key you press types itself a hundred or so times. There's nothing you can do to stop this.

I can't tell you how sick I am of clicking the little 'connect' button on the bluetooth receiver and then turning the mouse/keyb upside down to press the fiddly little connect buttons, in the hope it would sort it all out.

Lastly: My brand new PC ended up without any mouse or keyboard functionality after a day of deteriorating performance, which resulted in not being able to even login to windows. I had to reconnect my old ps2 keyboard to get back in.

Save your cash and time and look for something more reliable (anything other than bluetooth!)
