When looking for a mouse to by I considered many things:

1) LOOKS. And nothing beats this mouse, nothing beats this colour. It hasn't got dirty or worn off, as it's made from a good kind of plastic. The nano receiver is tiny. Also no annoying red light shining from the bottom of the mouse.

2) FEEL. Clicking is fine, scrolling actually feels nice lol, my only complaint is that it took a little while to get used to the middle-click (scroll click). You can also use the scroll to go left and right. The mouse is not too small (I have larger than average hands and find it nice) but not something you can't put in a bag with your laptop. It's pretty perfect. Oh and it also doesn't weigh much - in fact the 2 batteries are probably most the weight! Much better than a USB mouse or touchpad.

3) WIRELESS SPEED/RESPONSE/PRECISION. Instant. I'm a bit of a gamer, so I was a bit worried about the tech because of the nano receiver (which by the way is TINY) but it's instant. Seriously perfect. Don't be deceived by other mice being "better" for gamers.

4) RANGE. Very good. How far away can you really be from a laptop to see the screen still? Some metres? It'll work fine.

5) SURFACES (GLASS, CARPET, UNEVEN SURFACES ETC). No problem WHATSOEVER. I often lie on the floor watching TV and on my laptop (what a life lol), so I was a bit worried about this but not a single issue. It also glides across surfaces nicely.

6) BATTERY. I haven't had it that long, but it's been several months and no problems. They supply the first 2 batteries as a little bonus. I like the replacement way, it's pretty sweet. I think this is better than rechargeables though, as you don't have the stupid issue of a "dying battery" and it's not much of an extra cost to buy a couple batteries every 15 months. OH YEAH there's also an on-off switch which is nice.

7) PRICE. Well, this is pricey, but in my opinion well worth it. Simply the nano receiver alone won it over for me because I was worried about the damage to my usb slot with constant in and out of USB mice.

8) COMPARED TO OTHER MODELS. Don't bother with anything more expensive. There are several 'M' ranges and 'V' ranges... I can't see how they will be better/different to this so seriously don't bother.

Great Mouse 2 Nov 2009
Colour Name:Black
Really great mouse. The receiver is tiny, and fits nicely into my laptop to be left there all the time. The mouse is comfortable to use (I was worried that the arch would be too high so as to make it uncomfortable for the hand, but it isn't), and the battery seems to be lasting well, though I can't say anything for the officially stated batter life. Seems hardwearing enough, having been dropped by my friend once already! Tracking resolution seems more than adequate. Very happy. Well worth the money for me, since I was disappointed with the build quality of the touchpad on my new laptop. Highly recommended. :)

By father2 TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Colour Name:Silver
Having tried countless cordless mice over the years, I had got to the stage where there seemed little hope of finding a good one. Some would struggle to communicate with the PC or were sluggish to use, while others were difficult to recharge or got through batteries at an alarming rate. So when this Logitech M505 mouse gained lots of positive reviews on Amazon I initially thought that it would be yet another disappointing case of promising much, but delivering little.

But how wrong I was...

The first thing you notice about the M505 is how nicely it fits into your hand. I compared it with another cordless mouse from a few years ago and that mouse is twice the size of the M505 and awkward to hold and use. The M505 feels very natural, not only because it is smaller, but because the recessed areas help make the mouse natural to use. This mouse appears to be for use with a laptop PC but I am finding it just as useful for normal PCs. It doesn't feel too small at all.

The tiny receiver plugs into a USB port and because it does not protrude out a long way can be used on one of the USB on the front of your PC, without worrying that it will get broken. Once you switch on the mouse your PC will recognize it very rapidly and load the driver, allowing you to start using your M505 straight away.

Communicating with the PC is constant and very reliable. Using Laser tracking appears to be much better than the older optical mice technology. All I know is that this mouse does what I want it to do onscreen and doesn't seem to have a life of it's own like older mice.

Battery life is much longer apparently, though having only had this mouse for a number of weeks I cannot verify Logitech's claims. But having an on/off button on the mouse is sure to save battery power and also the mouse seems to switch itself off after a period of not being used.

Would I recommend this mouse to others? Yes, wholeheartedly and feel that anyone would love this mouse from the moment they start using it. The Logitech M505 mouse really does leave the competition trailing badly.
