5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal Partner for the Harmony 1000 14 Aug 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the device you need if you own a Harmony 1000 or a Harmony 895 and want to add Radio Control to your remote (for example to work a devise or devices in another room, or in a cupboard.

It 'pairs' with your harmony Remote directly and works with both the Harmony 1000 AND the Harmony 895. I've owned this for around a year now, and have had no problems at all.

There's little else to say - range is fine (I've tried it at up to 15m with partition walls inbetween) and the unit comes with an external power supply and transformer.

Mine came from AVIDES media in Germany who were excellent - and very quick.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Do What It Says On The Tin 11 Mar 2011
This product is a great idea. I went all out and bought the 1100 remote and playstation controller too. Setting everything up takes about a day if you want it to be spot on.

The wireless extender contains an infrared transmitter and comes with several leads to control other devices. At the end of each lead is two small infrared transmitters that can be attached onto or opposite your devices.

Once set up, I was pleased with the product until I noticed that intermittently, I was having problems with navigational tasksOften, when changing channels or browsing a menu on the playstation, TV or set-top-box, you want to move one step forward. Often, you want to hold the button down and scan quickly through the menus, holding down the remote buttons until you want to stop.

The problem that I was noticing is that often, the control would transmit for longer than I was holding the button down for so instead of moving incrementally through a menu, it would skip forward by several items.

I contacted Logitech who tried to be helpful. The process of trying to fix the issue was however frustrating and lasted 4 months. This was mostly because they struggled to understand what the symptoms were, nevermind the problem causing them.

Eventually, after several crazy solutions such as disabling the repeat functionality of the buttons on the remote, they gave up. Can you imagine trying to navigate the hundreds of Sky channels without being able to do so by holding down the remote buttons. They seemed to think it is ok to have to press a button 30 times to change channel!

Finally, they explained to me that there is a known issue with the wireless AV receiver that causes signals to be sent for longer than you intend them to be. They are currently unable to fix this and I have returned the whole setup.

After spending £450 on a remote control and associated accessories, I find it incredible that they haven't got the basic functionality right.

The product is good if you are willing to live with the intermittend misbehaviour. However, at the price they are charging for this and the associated remote controls, I feel confident that there are better solutions out there.
