Provides an excellent, smooth and extremely responsive surface to compliment my Logitech MX518 laser mouse.
Size - it's almost A3 paper size
Durability - The surface is rock solid and easy to clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth.
The mat is 3mm high and the edges are RAZOR SHARP! If your hand or wrist drag on the bottom edge of the mat you WILL get scratches and cuts on your hand and/or wrist, especially during long gaming sessions. This is a serious flaw on this product. Having said that, I didn't want to give up on it as the performance of the mat is so good. I have covered the bottom edge of the mat with some gaffer tape so as not to slit my wrists during a Borderlands 2 session!
The mouse mat sure is very good in quality, its big, its precise, and it feels great. If you game on relatively low DPI I think this would be amazing. High DPI however, that is another story.
It feels fantastic for a couple of days but within a very small time frame you will notice that the section of the surface that you use your mouse on will degrade and it feels rougher than the rest of the pad. For the high sensitivity quick movements that you need to make this is very bad, I can't use the mouse mat anymore because it is so frustrating.
I play league of legends and I'm an adc main (that will mean something if you play too), I used to be able to click EXACTLY where I wanted to and quickly, making it smooth and so much fun. However after a few days like I've said, it gets rough, and you can't move quickly, I can't click enemies anymore quickly and you will missclick a hell of a lot more, which makes your gaming experience extremely frustrating to say the least.
I hate to leave a bad review amongst so many good ones, but this is just my experience. If you want a long lasting high grade surface that will stay 100% consistently smooth, I wouldn't recommend this pad for you.
This mousepad is quite large, the largest I ever used, which requires quite an ammount of desk space. It would be nice to offer a smaller size, I would get that instead. I recommend taking measurements of your working space before buying. It is Large.
On a side note, and for those using a razer vespula with two sides, one for control and one for speed, the Logitech G440 surface is way slicker that the vespula "speed" side. This can be a problem for those wanting high accuracy, but reducing the mouse DPI can take care of that, I guess...
The only things against- price: very expensive; size: very large.
Follow up after 8 months use: The surface isn't very durable and now presents friction. The mouse doesn't glide very well and it is getting worse. Not happy at this time.
The cover is robust in feel, whilst remaining accurate and relatively low friction (I bought this nearly a year before reviewing); it's not the quietest surface to use a mouse on, but unless you're specifically listening to the faint sounds of mouse movement you'll barely notice.
I've not noticed ANY degradation in accuracy or changes to the surface over time, but cannot comment upon others experience as no idea how they use them, what mouse, etc. It is as good now as at purchase - though as others have noticed - the edges are sharp. Not had a problem with that, or any injuries, but... if you were bare skin arms and moved rapidly and caught it - you'd know.
Coupled with a decent mouse (G502 here) it's perfection. The price is steep... but it's going to last.
As usage and comfort go this is the best mouse pad I have ever had - And I have had many! - my Logitech G700 mouse just glides over this pad if there is any resistance I can't feel it, you can put your mouse on one side of the pad and flick it and it will glide to the other end with ease (in wireless mode, if you have a corded mouse this may not work).
As for looks it looks amazing, just a simple black very thin mouse pad with a [IMHO] very nicely designed logo in one corner.
The Price... As any PC gamer will tell you, you need a good mouse and keyboard, but many forget you need a good [for you] mouse pad, for me this is the one and at ~£25 this is in fact one of the cheapest I have ever purchased.
Razer Goliathus Alpha Control Edition - Used for a good while, but wasn't accurate enough at fast speeds.
SteelSeries QcK Heavy - Very comfortable mat, good size. No anti-fray though and whilst it did perform better than the Goliathus, it still had problems with my Logitech G700s (Wireless Laser Gaming Mouse).
This pad is of course a hard pad, and I have had no problems with it. One MINOR complaint is that the edges of this pad can be a little bit sharp so it's nice to have it slightly inside a tabletop, not flush on the edge to avoid rubbing against it.
