TV Cam for Skype
Skype anyone with Skype

You can call your friends and family who already have a Skype account on their PC or TV. And invite those that don’t to join Skype so you can talk face-to-face whenever you want.

Wide-angle lens with quality optics

Thanks to the 78-degree wide-angle lens, the people you video call will see more of the room you’re in. So that instead of squeezing together in front of a computer, you and your family can sit comfortably on the living-room couch.

You’ll enjoy razor-sharp images from a lens designed with the help of Carl Zeiss, one of the pioneers in the industry.

Your images stay razor sharp, even in close-ups (up to 7 cm from the camera lens) with the built-in autofocus.

Plug-and-play simplicity on your Skype-enabled HDTV

You’ll be making HD video calls from your Panasonic Skype-enabled HDTV in no time. Simply plug in the camera, log into your Skype account and have a face-to-face visit with your faraway loved ones right from your sofa—no computer needed. Click here for a list of compatible TVs.

The TV Cam is always ready to make or receive a call. Simply turn on the TV to answer or make a call with the intuitive interface designed for your HDTV.

TV Cam for Skype
Dual, stereo mics

The dual mics—designed for the living room—can pick up your voice clearly from in front of the TV, even if you’re sitting 3 metres (10 feet) away, while reducing noise and echoes.

Ultra-wideband audio

Your loved ones will hear the real you in ultra-wideband audio.

Logitech Fluid Crystal Technology

It’s what makes a Logitech webcam better—making the connections you care about stronger. It’s smoother video motion, without annoying choppiness, in real-world conditions. Sharper pictures, so your video calls and clips will look more detailed, more real, more true to life. Richer colours, so you’ll look more natural (and your loved ones will see the real you) during a video call, when you record a video and when you take a pic. And clearer sound, so you’ll sound more natural, too. Fluid Crystal—now available in every Logitech webcam.

* To send or receive an HD video call, the minimum upload/download speed is 1.2 Mbps.

I bought this TV Cam for my new Panasonic Viera TX-P42S30B and have been very impressed by the high quality picture and sound. It's truly 'plug and play', insert into the TV's USB socket and that's that.
The recipient of my first Skype call was amazed at the high quality picture and sound .

Worst buy ever !!
I was misled by Amazon that I could return it if it was not compatible. The supplier said they would not accept a return if it was opened so I ended up with a parcel while Amazon looked into compatibility - the advert only shows USA and Japanese model numbers which is not at all useful in the UK. After a fortnight it was decided that it was not compatible so I sent it back (£5.20 in postage). Better than losing the lot I suppose.
DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU ARE SURE IT WILL WORK WITH YOUR SPECIFIC PANASONIC MODEL.. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!

I was a little unsure when I ordered this product - I wanted a Skype camera for my TV - TX-L32ET5B - however it was not listed on the specs and I could not confirm compatibility elsewhere. BUT the price was too tempting so I took a gamble. However no fears, it worked straight out of the box - literally "plug and play". Very good piece of kit at a remarkable price.

Well, my parents got a european Panasonic, 2011 model, TX-L42E30 connected to a broadband connection. Thought I could buy them the Panasonic skype camera, but cost was rather high/prohibitive. Then I stumbled upon this camera, which also featured Carl Zeiss lens. Bad news: it was supposed to work only on specific Panasonic TVs, that is:
* only US and Japanese models and
* all made 2012 and later

However there was an Amazon customer review of this item, suggesting that one could use it succesfully on European and/or 2011 models. Firmware of my folks TX-L42E30 telly was the latest at the time (1.323). So I decided to try my luck and buy this thing.

It was success at first try! This camera worked, although Logitech did not have this Panasonic in the supported models list.

Pros:
-----
+ Quality of the video *sent* to the others was outstanding.
+ Setup and usage is also extremely simple: once configured, calls made to the tv can be automatically answered. Big deal if the folks have trouble with all this techno wizardry...

Cons:
-----
- There's one or two things though, that might be related to the fact that this is an unsupported model. The camera is motorized and allows zoom and pan/tilt to be controlled via software. Although there were controls in the embedded Skype software of the panasonic, pan/tilt did not work. Zoom did work though.

All in all: at around 90 euros, I consider this to be definitely a good purchase, very satisfied here!

This camera is every bit as good as I was hoping. Looks stylish and compact. It was £35 cheaper than Panasonic's own version! Only down side is that it struggles if I have several other lights on in the room. Other than that, I'm really satisfied!

Got this today at a bargain price of £33. The great news is that it works with my old TX-P50G20BA. It's a 2010 model updated to version 2710. The box clearly states that it works with Panasonic TVs with Viera Cast or Viera Connect. The Pan and Tilt features do not work but what the heck. They are not essential. It's a shame Logitech don't publish a comprehensive list of compatible TVs. They would sell a hell of a lot more of these if they did.

The only bad news is that the Skype app has some limitations and if you have a lot of Skype contacts will not let you sign in. It offers to create a new account for you instead. I have about 75 contacts in my list and this apparently is too much for Skype on the Panasonic. What is the limit? God knows. I tried various forums but cannot find an answer. If someone finds an official answer please let the community know.

I upgraded the firmware on my 2011 Panasonic plasma Tv sometime last year and wanted to try a webcam as one of the Apps available was Skype. Given that Microsoft is doing away with Messenger and switching everyone over to Skype I thought it would be worth the longterm investment to get a webcam for the TV.

The webcam is a well made bit of kit, slightly larger than a traditional webcam you'd used on a laptop. It sits neatly on top of the tv. Just plug it in to a USB connection on the back of the tv ad it was instantly recognised and installed itself. Obviously you will need to connect the tv to your router as well for Skype to work in the first place.
Select the Skype app and sign into your Skype account. It did take a few minutes to the pick up all my existing contacts but everything went smoothly. When using, image and sound quality are good.

Using Skype on a PC is probably quicker and easier in most instances, but If you are a regular Skype user and have a compatible TV, then I can recommend this product.

The camera was easy to set up and the other party to the Skype calls appreciate the wide angle view. Note that to receive high-definition pictures both you and the other party require 1.2mb/s broadband upload speeds, which is not achievable on my copper-based broadband connection. Fortunately the picture quality automatically adapts so long as the connection speed is over a minimum threshold. Also note that the other party requires an up to date version of Skype.

At first I had trouble accessing my Skype account through the TV once I had set it up (but this appears to be a Panasonic / Skype issue rather than Logitech), so the experience was not as seamless as I would have liked it.
