Logitech Z523 Speaker System

Your music, your movies, your games -- the high-performance Speaker System Z523 brings them to life in room-filling 360-degree sound. Unlike traditional 1-directional speaker systems, Logitech speakers project sound evenly in all directions. No dead spots. You get the full listening experience -- not just in front of the speakers -- but everywhere in the room.

The 2 satellite speakers deliver rich mids and crisp highs. The down-firing subwoofer with 6.5-inch pressure driver produces deep bass you can feel. RCA and 3.5mm jacks let you easily connect your Logitech Squeezebox network music player, gaming console, iPod or DVD player. 40 watts (RMS) of power fills the room with crystal-clear sound, and the convenient on-speaker controls put complete bass and volume control at your fingertips.

Logitech_System Z523
Feel the Music and Action in High-Performance All-Around Sound

The Speaker System Z523 floods your room with sound so real and detailed, you'll feel like you're right there in the middle of your music, games and movies. It offers deep bass and dynamic sound you can feel. Walk across the room and your music stays rich and balanced, thanks to Logitech 360-degree sound technology.

Plug in your iPod, game console or DVD player and bring your favorite music and entertainment to life in room-filling audio clarity. Then turn up the volume and treat yourself to 40 watts of pure, clean listening power. This is the way music, movies and games were meant to be heard -- all around.

Logitech System Z523
Logitech System Z523
Logitech 360-Degree Sound for an Immersive Sound Experience, Everywhere in the Room

You don't just listen to music at your desk. Shouldn't your speakers deliver great sound no matter where you are? Most desktop speakers are designed to focus all the sound to 1 fixed "sweet spot" directly in front of the speakers. Move out of that narrow sweet spot and details drop out and your sounds muddy.

Logitech solves the problem with 360-degree sound technology. Rather than using a forward-firing driver, Logitech speakers are acoustically engineered with both forward and backward-firing drivers. Sound is projected and reflected more evenly and over a wider range of space. Result? Your whole room becomes a sweet spot filled with clear, rich, music -- even if you're behind the speakers.

Logitech System Z523
Integrated Jacks for Easy Connections to Music, Games and Movie Players

This speaker system is engineered to play nice with your other entertainment equipment. RCA jacks and a 3.5 mm input make it a snap to plug in your Logitech Squeezebox network music player, gaming console, iPod or DVD player. There's also a headphone output, so you can listen in private whenever you want.

Logitech System Z523
40-Watts of Power for Big, Rich, Detailed Sound

You've got a room full of friends -- and the power to fill it with full-out music. Go ahead. Turn up the volume. Your bass notes will boom. Your high notes will sing. A full 40 watts (RMS) of power will do right by your party mix with big, crowd-pleasing 360-degree sound.

Logitech System Z523
Down-Firing Subwoofer with 6.5-inch Pressure Driver for Deeper Bass without Distortion

This is bass at its deepest -- low, big and clean. With the down-firing subwoofer, you can literally feel the bass at higher volumes. Deep thumps and rumbles make your gaming and movie watching more intense. Logitech's 6.5-inch pressure driver completely eliminates distortion. So you hear clean, rich bass, even at window-rattling volume.

Logitech System Z523
Convenient On-Speaker Controls Put Volume Adjustment at Your Fingertips

Sometimes you're in the mood for soft jazz. Other times you're ready to crank up a night of serious high-octane rock. Either way, the on-board controls put total volume and bass control at your fingertips.

System Requirements

Works with:

  • Computer soundcards or audio sources that include a 3.5 mm jack
  • Any major operating systems including Windows, Mac, and Linux

4.0 out of 5 stars Z-523 Compact Subwoofer (With a Punch) 31 Mar 2010
By a01910
Well, I'm not a mad test freak but having experiences with both the X-240 and Z-4 beforehand, I realised purchasing the Z-523's was certainly a lucrative decision because besides their slick look and compact subwoofer they combined both the punch of the X-240's (due to the downward firing driver) and the "boom bass" sound that the Z-4's possess (for those of you who have either one of these speakers).

In comparison to it's Logitech counterparts (X-240 and Z-4) the Z-523's are both louder and clearer and provide more than deep enough bass for your average listener. I was actually shocked at how deep the bass was because the subwoofer is only 3/4 of the size of the Logitech Z2300s. In addition, considering the price, the Z-523's are definitely a worthwhile investment, they really do provide good clarity for such a compact system.

Furthermore, installation couldn't be easier, it certainly has fewer cables than the Z-4 and Z2300 and in addition the volume and bass dials are mounted onto the right side speaker for easy control and this lessens the number of cables lying around. The Z523's work particularly well just as a music system but perform exceptionally well for movies and at enhancing your gaming experience (PS3) (you'll find you only need the bass up to half way max).

One main concern was the omnidirectional sound being a gimmick. In my opinion, they do provide you with slightly more rich dynamic sound and they do widen the "sweet spot". However they are in no way a substitute of your average 5.1 surround system and considering this is one of their main selling points, I feel the sound from the satellites could have been louder and a little more crispier.

I definitely would recommend these to anyone who wants a decent 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent PC Speakers 2 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase
For what they cost these are very good PC speakers and for that they deserve 5 stars. Sound is clear and there's plenty of Bass both of which can be independently controlled.

Connecting them is very simple as all the cables are fitted to the L & R speakers and once in position are then connected to the Sub-woofer (which is clearly marked and as with all subs can be positioned anywhere convenient fairly close by), Finally there's a single 3.5mm jack to connect to the PC. There is no separate transformer for the speakers as that is incorporated in the Sub-Woofer which connects directly to the mains with the cable provided

I see in other reviews people saying they are not good as Hi-Fi speakers - well at this cost they wouldn't be. These are not out there to compete with the likes of Wilson Audio.

I also see others referring to hum - well my guess is that is just a case of positioning cables to make sure the mains cable isn't interfering with the speaker cables.

If it's good quality and fairly discrete PC speakers you're after at a reasonable price then these are just the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic speakers 25 July 2011
these speakers are fantastic and perfect for whatever you want to do on a computer, music, gaming or even just watching videos. The clarity is great and more than enough for my music tech recordings.

they look good on my desk. Sub woofer produces a good sound and the two speakers are excellent. A real joy to listen to dance and film. Very good value for money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Left Speaker to Bass Connection 28 Mar 2011
I bought this a few months ago and since I've got it, the left speaker cable that connects to the bass must have a faulty connection as occasionally the sound comes through the left speaker, but most of the time it doesn't and I have to fiddle with the cable at the back. But when I do that, the left speaker cuts out after a few seconds. When it does finally work, a tiny bit of bass in a song happens or a explosion in a game which stops the sound coming through the left speaker. It would have been a lot easier if the left speaker was internally connected to the bass or to the right speaker instead of being a separate connection.
So that is the reason for the 3 stars. The sound quality is amazing and the bass is really good but if you turn it's volume up to loud, it gets a bit muffled but it perfectly fine and a good vibration at a low volume.

4.0 out of 5 stars logitech speakers 27 Jan 2011
Good sound quality and the subwoofer picks up the low frequency stuff very well but definately not for use in large room since projection is a bit weedy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Speakers! 22 Jan 2011

The speakers are excellent, specially the subwoofer. It pumps so much power! It is really excellent. The only problem I have it that one of the speakers is near my wireless router and it makes popping noise when I start downloading stuff from the internet.
