5.0 out of 5 stars Super Device at a great price, 16 Jun 2004

The first thing I would advise when you get your Logitech Quickcam Sphere, is visit the Logitech Website and download the very latest software/driver for this product. It probably doesn't matter if you go ahead and use the software disc that comes with the cam but it will save you time if you download the latest unless your disc supplied is already 8.3 or higher.

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downloads/software/GB/EN,CRID=1794,contentid=7597

I bought my cam beginning of June, the software disc/driver enclosed was version 8.1.1 but the latest available was version 8.3. A much better improved interface and latest driver.

I read about the Quickcam in an article in Computeractive Magazine, highly rated. I have to agree this cam is a good all rounder. Easy set up. Plenty options to alter image quality. Not super quality images but as good as you'll get from any web cam. At just over £70 from Amazon ( some retailers charge up to £100 ), this knocks spots off my old webcam which I paid £100 for three years ago! Although it comes with a 22cm stand, I have mine sitting on top of the monitor without stand and it's a perfect position for live chat and using the mouse/keyboard to move the lens around or use the face tracker to follow you!

The setup rebooted my PC once and was very stait forward. The picture quality seems great, much better than my old webcam. The auto adjust for brightness is a bonus especialy when looking outside where the sun comes out and goes in. The other bonus is the built in microphone that I am told is very good quailty by other users of MSN Messenger. I am glad I purchased this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Logitech Sphere - Thumbs up to Quality & Value 4 Money!, 17 Dec 2004

Strange this alien looking webcam - hidden with all sorts of tricks and suprises! The installation was easy for me, quick, simple and no problems on Win XP. You have to follow instructions otherwise you might have some trouble! The whole point of this new gadget was to be able to have face tracking when moving (that was the main reason why i brought this item). Disappointly it fails that, unless of course you move like a slow-motion movie and take about 5 seconds for every joint movement.. it often mistakes your leg or your chest as your FACE which is A GREAT BONUS :S! However my hands clap for the high quality pixels and colour.. the resolution is amazing and it looks cool on your desk! It has it's own stand so you dont have to balance it on your monitor or on something higher. It's also quite useful because you can manually control it and make it turn and zoom! It's v. good for the price on amazon! £60 well worth spending on!
