I am using this on Windows VISTA 32bit.

I can honestly say it's really simple to use. Just put in the disk and the computer reads the drivers, then insert the USB web cam when on-screen prompted.....That's it!

I then downloaded SKYPE, tested the microphone/speaker settings and away I went. Easy as that.

The Web cam gives an excellent picture and sound (much better with a built in microphone - less messing about, just plug in the USB).

Overall if you are looking for a web cam to use with SKYPE or something similar, then I would highly advise this one.

Remember it's worth paying a little extra for a better quality web cam.......You get what you pay for!

Just as you'd expect from Logitech, the installation (on my old IBM T40 laptop running up-to-date XP) was smooth and trouble-free and the camera worked immediately in Skype. Both the image quality and the microphone sound quality are very good - it basically does exactly what it says on the tin.

I noticed this webcam and it's probably Logitech's best value webcam. It's fairly cheap but the video quality is superb. There's a little bit of motion blur when things are speedy but I think it is easily ignored. The sound quality seems good enough that I've been able to throw my headset away and replace it with this.

It's a pretty standard webcam, it has a manual focus ring and Logitech's software packaged with it which allows you to add some effects to the video/images. Not too many but it can be amusing at first.

Anyway, I took a plunge a few months ago to test it (there weren't very many reviews around), and just recently bought my long-distance girlfriend one as a christmas gift as I'm so impressed with it. :3

If you go to youtube and search "logitech C300" you can see a couple of tests to evaluate the quality. The review from daanbrg is a pretty good example of how well the camera does.

EDIT: Now I want to mention how awesome Logitech is as a company. The C300 I bought kind of broke after a few months. Something seemed to happen to the wire which made it so my computers stopped recognising it. However, after talking to Logitech support, I got a replacement sent directly to me from the Netherlands (I live in the UK) without having to send my old one back to them at all. The information I supplied was enough. Thanks Logitech!

I bought this primarily to use with Skype, which you can connect to automatically, along with Google and other similar sites (once downloaded of course). The extras that come with it - ability to take still photos or videos (useful) , morph or do fancy effects with pictures on the screen (fun, but no use to me) and the ability to turn off the picture, but use the microphone only (useful) are good and the lead is long enough to wave the camera around to show off various things without moving from computer. It also attaches firmly to both main PC and laptop without a problem.
Unless you want to join the Logitech Vid site (where, I assume, you can talk to other Logitech users) I would advise against installing the logitech vid option on installation - it just takes up memory unnecessarily. I also did not install all the special effects on my laptop, to save memory, and it works perfectly as a atraight webcam/microphone. Although a separate headset is also on sale, unless you are in a noisy place, it isn't needed - the built-in microphone is excellent(even with my deaf 90 year old mother)
It lost a star because I thought the pushing of the logitech video option a pest and there was no explanation about what it is. You need to go to the website for more than the very basic instructions that come with the webcam and I hate online instruction sites - I can never find what I want!
I do recommed this product for anyone wanting a webcam to use with sites like Skype and for taking stills and videos from the PC (people you are talking to) or of yourself.

I needed a new camera having "upgraded" from Windows XP to Windows 7. This has a good spec and seemed to fit the bill. Ignoring the instructions, I plugged it in and let the operating system find the necessary drivers. It was working within a couple of minutes, so I managed to do without all the extra software that Logitech would have had me load up. As my PC is struggling to run W7, it needs all the help it can get!

I was looking for a webcam for use as an entry level security camera. Ideally to watch over my garden during the day, and to continue recording using the light from a security lantern at night. I have tried a few other webcams (see my review on the Tecknet 6 megapixel) without success and couldn't find any reviews that covered my application, so I wasn't too hopeful for good results.

Out of the box the webcam installed flawlessly. The software is fine, although I use different software for my application. The focusing is OK, probably the weakest feature of the camera, but it is usable. The camera is easily configurable and set to highest resolution (SXGA) the picture is crisp, the colour and saturation are more than satisfactory. The camera adjusts quickly to changes in light and will happily display excellent images across a large illuminance range (from midday sunlight to almost complete darkness). Strangely when it comes to receiving images in darkness, turning on the low light boost has a detrimental effect on the image. Having applied this setting as standard, I was amazed at how much clearer the image was when I switched it off!

If you are looking for an entry level security camera, the C300 is ideal. If you are looking for a good quality webcam, I see no reason why the C300 won't fit the bill (although I have not used it for this application). All in all, a excellent piece of kit.
