This is a well-priced mouse with a good shape and feel, as well as a nicely-calibrated scroll facility and useful, rather than unnecessary, extra buttons to provide some handy shortcuts for the user.
There's little point in installing the bundled software, as any version of Windows from 2000 onwards will pick it up and detect it as an optical scroll-wheel mouse without problems, and allow you to tweak all the necessary settings through the default 'mouse' dialog box in Control Panel.
I had spotted a curious tendency for the pointer to 'jump' to random points on the screen from time to time, but found it to be a feature of the mousing surface I was using. Use too-shiny a mousemat and the optical detector picks up false reflections and can make it think the mouse has moved a significant distance. Keep the alcove clear of dust and use a fabric surface to 'mouse' on and it should be fine.
Overall a good little mouse and one that I enjoy using for high-speed games without complication.

The precision is awsome, excellent if ur a gamer buttons at ur fingertips instead of having them to a keyboard key. Scroller is excellent to change through weapons and scrolling on the internet pages. Overall good buy at a reasonable price.

I had a cordless ball mouse on this pc,on my other I have an optical 5 button mouse, the difference was like day and night. So I decided to upgrade to an optical 5 button mouse,it arrived today and it is perfect. The pointer is now going where I want it,and the buttons are perfect for navigation on the web.

All buttons are useful. I run Mac OS X 10.3 and the software provided for this mouse is fine. You will need to use the software if you want functionality beyond the two buttons and scroll wheel recognised by the operating system.
I found, to begin with, that my hand (of average size, maybe longer fingers) got stiff using this mouse for extended (> 4 hours or so) periods. There is also slight dark discolouration on the main two mouse buttons where dirt has rubbed on and this won't shift. But this is only very slight. The side back/forward buttons' icons are scratching off too. I've had this mouse since early June.
Other than that I use this mouse on a semi-shiny desk surface and have no skipping problems and I find the extra buttons extremely useful. I use the back/forward buttons for back/close window, the top button assigned to F9 for Exposé and the scroll wheel button as command-click, which opens up pages in a new tab when browsing on the Internet. This is a great set up. Good functionality from the mouse.

I found this to be a smooth and precise mouse. But in Windows 98 I had a problem with the installation software which caused the game Freecell to open but not play. Uninstalling the software cured this so there must a conflict somewhere. Fortunately I do not need all of the buttons on this mouse and so can make do with the settings made by the system software.
