This adaptor is great if you have just upgraded to a 60GB version of the PS3. (You can play PS & PS2 games) Unfortunately if you have a memory card larger than 8MB then hopefully you kept the original 8MB card and didn't sell your PS2 before trying to copying the old saved games to the PS3. This is because the PS3 will only create an 8MB slot on it's hard drive, so you will have to use your old PS2 to copy the game save data to the 8MB card from the larger one and then create two card slots on the PS3 hard drive and then copy to those.

This is a great product if you have been playing a PS2 game and you want to carry your save over on to the PS3 60gb, or even if you just want to back up your PS2 memory card on to your PS3. Very easy to use, no instructions supplied, but obvious what it required to use it. Once you insert your PS2 memory card, it pops up in the Memory cards menu. Then you will just need to create a PS2 memory card on the system and transfer your files over. I also tested this with PS1 memory cards, in the off chance that it might work, but it does not. It can be a expensive product for a one time use, so best thing to do then is check with friends who may need to do the same. Ultimately, you may end up selling this product on.

I brought this product because I wanted to transfer my data from PS1 to PS3 which is PS1/PS2 backward compatible, I also knew from the review I read on Amazon that adaptor was not compatible with PS1 card (third part version) but there is a work around for that.

So did it work? am i happy with the product? the short answer is yes but....

Firstly the package arrived on time, well packaged and it really looks brand new (if like me you order other items from different vendor, some of them look like 2nd hand or pre-owned).
So since I wanted to get my PS1 data in to my PS3 I did the following:
- get MY PS1 card then transfer into an original PS2 memory card via a PS2 console (both PS2 card and console are from a friend of mine)
- take the original PS2 card and plug into the adaptor.
- plug the adaptor to My PS3 (via the USB port) then switch ON the PS3
- Went to game>memory utility, there the card adaptor was detected. If you have nothing it means your card is not detected.
- Transfer the data to my PS3 console on a virtual PS1 card I created for it.
- get all my data into my PS3.done

There you will ask, so what's the problem???? My only beef is that on the back of the package you can read the following statement:
- copy PS2 memory card data to and from PS3
- works with both PS1 & PS2 memory cards /!\ what????!!!!
- connects to a USB port on the PS3

In case where for some impossible reason, I could not understand English anymore, I still can understand French, Italian and Spanish and they say the same thing. I obviously tried to plug my PS1 card before going on this troublesome procedure and it does not work.

Who needs instructions (and I don't mean to boast by saying that) it really is sooo simple just plugged it into a usb slot on the ps3 then went to the memory card option under the game section on the media bar, created a new virtual memory card and copied the items accross one by one.

was playing GTA SA in minutes

so if you have old game saves from ps1/ps2 games and a playstation3 that'll play those old games it is a must.

great buy, although you may really only need to use it the once ;>

Does 1 of the 2 things it claims...
It does accept & transfer PS2 data over to the PS3, but both the PS3 units I've owned, neither have been PS2 game compatible, however I have tried numerous times to get it to accept & transfer all 8 of my PS1/PSX data, & it doesn't work, & was the exact reason I purchased this product for. I should have took my time to read all the reviews, & wouldn't have bothered buying the product.
I expected more, because I have owned Logic3 products in the past

This is a connection device that plugs into one of your PS3's usb ports at the front of the machine, and will enable you to save PS2 games on your PS3 as long as you still have a PS2 memory card. HOWEVER, this will only work on the PS3 60GB - which is no longer manufactured; the 40gb and the 80gb models aren't backwards compatible, so don't bother with this if you have one of those versions of the PS3! Save your money.
A lot of people claim on here that this adaptor doesn't work, and this is down to one major flaw. The Memory Card Adaptor doesn't come with any instructions at all, so if you are like me, that would mean that you should just be able to plug the thing in, slot in your ps2 memory card and off you go. No, no, NO! I did this and had no joy at all, and to all intents and purposes this made it look like the device didn't work. Before i was about to take the item back as faulty, i decided to read the PS3 instruction manual and therein lies the secret to this device. If you turn to page 20 of the instruction manual this will tell you exactly how to get it working properly. Within 5 minutes of reading through these instructions i was quite merrily playing a ps2 game, and was able to save it! Success!
Those of you who still have your instruction manual will be able to do this very easily, but what about those of you who don't? Well, i went onto the official Uk website for Sony and into the PS3 section to find an online manual, that shows the exact pages you will need. So, panic over!
I know a lot of people have returned this item as faulty to online stores and high street shops but you really must check this out first. I was going to give up and ask for my money back, but a little patience and investigation paid dividends.

So, the item itself. How would i rate it?
