I received this eagerly awaited controller accessory a week ago and have to agree with comments already made. It is an excellent addition to the PS3 Move experience. I agree with the comment that smaller hands may have some difficulties, by that I presume reference to the younger person. I have quite small (female adult) hands and no problems. The lack of games at the moment is a bit of a negative but hopefully that will be sorted when the demand for Move games increases (after Christmas). It would be wonderful if COD and MOH type games could be Move compatible but my understanding is that the developers are not looking in that direction -sadly! The only games I have used it with are 'The Shoot' and the Time Crisis demo, both good fun.
The gun itself is quite well made, and appears robust. The design makes using both controllers (the motion controller and navigator) simple and fun, the only little 'nit-picky' comment is that both the controllers, the navigator more so, are not secured tightly (as with the PS3 gun controller) and can occasionally spin/shift out of position slightly but had I written this review yesterday it would still have had a 5 star +++ rating.
However, in the middle of playing a game last night the trigger failed!! fractured internally? This was under normal (and not overly enthusiastic) gameplay. HUGE disappointment for a piece of hardware accessory I had only used 3 or 4 times for short periods in the 6 days I have had it.
I am hoping there was an inherent flaw in the actual piece of 'trigger' plastic which caused it to fracture and not a design fault/flaw. I am obviously returning the gun to Amazon, but so impressed with it - and living in the hope that it was just a fluke, I have asked them to replace (rather than refund) however Amazon are out of stock and it is just the market place sellers that have it in stock. Still the bullet has been bitten, as it were ;) I have requested a refund, and ordered it again. (although it does irk me more than a little that I am having to pay an extra £5.00!!!).
I will obviously leave feedback when I receive the replacement, if the same fault occurs then it will also be returned
I can only give 3 stars now for the product, (lucky to get that as it is costing me substantially more - although I notice the market place seller on display at the moment is cheaper only £3 more than I paid - so look around the market place, don't just go with the 'default' replacement to the amazon search display- I failed to appreciate that!!)
Overall, excellent and loved it .......when it worked.... but it didn't work for long but risking ordering again, which speaks volumes :D.
Hope this is useful.
NEW REVIEW for the SECOND (replacement) MACHINE GUN ACCESSORY
Disappointingly the second 'gun' for what would be superb accessory did exactly the same thing as the first.. i.e. the trigger failed/fractured after around a couple or so hours of play. Again having only had the gun for approximately a week!! I had hoped when it arrived that the problem was rectified - the navigator control seated better in the handle - there was no lateral/twisting movement, but again during normal game play the trigger failed, bearing in mind that I was almost too frightened to use it because of the experience with the first, and treated it with kid gloves! I was soooooo willing it to be okay so impressed was I with it! Now, either I am extremely unlucky to receive two fluky products or there is without doubt a design fault? It is definitely going back and I will not be ordering it again. Having had 2 in 2 weeks fail means I have no choice but but to lower the star rating. If the problem does get sorted and an upgraded/Mk2 version is issued I may consider buying in the future until then I will have to make do with the excellent official Playstation 3 gun controller. Sadly I would advise all NOT TO BUY at present, and hope there will not be too many disappointed folk over the Christmas period.
