Theese are great value 5.1 speakers that will give you exellent quality 5.1 surround sound Thanks to the built in Decoder. You can plug them into your Xbox, playstation 2, Gamecube, DVD player or PC. The instructions are clear and colour coded and I had it all up and running in about an hour. I plugged them into my xbox via the optical cable which comes with them (although youll need to by the advanced Scart cable)And now I can get 5.1 surround sound out of my Games and DVDs. This adds a new dimension to all of them. e.g on Halo you can hear bullets fly past your head, enemys coming up behind you and even your heartbeat. I also tried plugging them into my PS2 but could only get Pro Logic sound out of them (you may be able to buy something to upgrade it to 5.1 but i dont know). There are a few niggles however....The subwoofer IS pretty small and although you can get a pretty beefy sound out of it, it cant handle the bigger Bass sounds wich I found on films like Star Wars Attack of the clones (although it worked fine on my games)....when it tries to pull off a really big bass sound, the sub Starts making a pretty cheap vibrating sound which dosnt sound too healthy at all and youll be forced to turn the Bass volume down. Also The Pro Logic Feature dosnt give very high quality Rear speaker effects and the modes you can put it on wich include Theatre, Hall and Stadium mode Really do sound quite dreadfull If your not listening to music (imagine an Endless echoing sound on GTA3). Also as with the other soundstation models, you cant (to my knowledge)plug the system into your TV ..i.e they only work with the games console. Having said all that, you would find it pretty damn impossible to get a better quality 5.1 Speaker System for this price. Overall i give them 4 and a half out of 5.
