Colour Name: Silver Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Length: 4:10 Mins
♦ Brief ♦

Personally I've never heard of the company Loewe before, but now after using one of their products for the first time, I now think of "top quality" when I see the company name.

The Speaker 2go is extremely stylish, it has a simple rectangular box shape with a stunning aluminium brush finish around the edges of the product and seems to suit being placed anywhere around my house.

One thing that surprised me was its weight, for a fairly small speaker it's rather heavy, but when you feel the product, you get the sense of a solid build with high quality materials, though the weight does help it stand its ground.

♦ Box Contents ♦

What's in the box: Speaker 2go | Power Adapter | 3.5mm AUX Cable | Carry Bag (Velvet, the one material I hate the feel of! >_<) | Instruction Manual.

♦ Set-up ♦

If you're planning to use this straight out of the box, you may need to charge the speaker first by connecting it to the mains via the power adapter included.

The speaker can still be used whilst charging. To connect your device, you can do one of the following:

1) AUX IN (Cable included): Basically you connect the audio cable into your device where your headphones would be plugged in, the other end goes into the "AUX IN" which is located on the back of the speaker.

#NOTE: When using this method the volume is effected by both the speaker and your device, so crank up the volume on your device whilst keeping the speaker on low, then adjust the speaker to the appropriate volume.

2) Bluetooth: You can do this two different ways, either using the NFC feature if your device has it (the speakers NFC hotspot is the big black circle located on top), or via the normal Bluetooth settings.

I've had the Loewe Speaker 2go for more than a month now (bought from Loewe Galarie) and I just want to share my views on this very good speaker.

The sound quality is the first priority for me and in my opinion, it beats the similarly priced bluetooth speaker on the market. I once used the Bose Soundlink II for a week but I could not wait to return it, Awful! Bloated loose bass without control and texture, and very dull mids and slightly dark highs. The Samsung FA-60 is a better contender, but it sounds rather thin.

Surprisingly I think the Soundmatters Foxl Platinum (although cheaper) is the closest contender. Now as powerful and full as the Speaker 2go, but edges out slightly on the quality of the highs and overall definition.

To be really critical (putting an audiophile hat on), there is a small lift in the bass department (understandably). Occasionally some male vocals may sound a tad muddy. Personally I use an equaliser in my music player, reducing the response at the 125-250Hz by 3-4dB, and 30-125Hz by 2-3dB. This, to me at least, yields a very pleasant listening experience from this small speaker.

Positioning is key, putting it against a wall by 10-20cm will give you good bass response (as the bass port fires to the back), putting a thin granite plinth (with spike legs) below will give you better definition and clarity throughout the spectrum.

Speakerphone is a bit let down though as the quality of the mic is not great. People on the other side quite often report faint / tinny sound from me.

Overall I am very happy with the unit, especially the sound and built quality. It is not without any flaw but since I use it mainly for music, and with some EQ tweaks applied, I'm still giving it 5 stars.

After a fair bit of research on wireless speakers I decided to give the Loewe Speaker 2Go a try. I was originally considering the Bose Soundlink Mini but was swayed by the positive reviews I'd seen for this product.

Connecting the speaker with a phone is simple and easy. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and it took a matter of seconds to get the two paired and connected (see next paragraph for laptop connectivity issue). You simply activate Bluetooth on your phone, hold down the Bluetooth button on top of the Speaker 2go so that it is discoverable (you will hear a tone to confirm this), scan for devices, pair the phone with the speaker and you're done.

***A WORD OF WARNING IF YOU WANT TO CONNECT THIS PRODUCT WITH YOUR LAPTOP/COMPUTER*** I'd been trying to get the speaker working with my laptop for at least a week after I bought it and despite trawling the web, couldn't find a solution anywhere. I contacted Loewe who informed me that the Speaker 2go is not compatible with Windows 7 or 8. They said that it may, however, still be possible to use a 3rd party adapter to connect the speaker to a laptop but they are unable to advise on any particular adapters. I resigned myself to failure before finally stumbling upon a method of getting the laptop to connect to it. The method I used to connect the speaker to my laptop (Sony Vaio VPCCW1Z4E running Windows 7 64-bit)is as follows:-

First you need to download the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack that applies to your system from the list at the top here: [...]

Go to your Device Manager within the Control Panel and find your Bluetooth device.
