a very interesting book that explains the problems that occured in the begining of steam whether it be human or material problems. it sets a data base of a couple of words explaning what happened to full blooded reasons. i thought fusible plugs where made of bronze not brass but is this a slip[ up i would recommend this book to any one interesed in boilers and steam

Assuming you are interested in mechanical failure of boilers, of course.
Some great pictures of destroyed locomotives. Hewisons writing style
is easy to get along with and for the student of engineering history it
gives some insight into the development of the regulatory system and
practices for locomotive boilers.
