Product Description

Kerry Wilkinson's debut novel Locked In is an Amazon Kindle UK overall No.1 bestselling novel, while the Jessica Daniel series has sold over 250,000 copies.

Most people who get promoted at work are pleased but for Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniel it comes with the knowledge she is replacing her mentor who was stabbed in a bar fight.

She barely has time to start doubting her abilities before a body is found in a locked house with seemingly no way in or out.

DS Daniel not only has to prepare for a court date against the scourge of the force, legal expert Peter Hunt, she also has to hold off a journalist who seems to know more than she does about her case.

With a car that even junior officers joke about, an investigation with no leads and a best mate whose love life is finally settling down, the detective thinks she has enough on her plate and that's before a second body turns up in identical circumstances to the first.

How can a murderer get to victims in seemingly impossible situations and what, if anything, links the bodies?

This is Book One in the Jessica Daniel series of detective novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read, more twists than Spaghetti Junction!, 8 Nov 2011
This review is from: Locked In (Jessica Daniel Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
I chose this book as my first "kindle-read" the reviews told me I should expect a book which I couldn't put down and I wasn't disappointed. The story line had me needing to know more right from the start both about the plot and the books main characters. The plot is excellent as it twists and turns right to the very last page, the cliff hanging chapter ends and clever reveals made sure I could barely put it down and the sense of beginning to get to know the main character Jessica Daniel made sure I started reading Kerry Wilkinson's second book Vigilante (Jessica Daniel Book 2) the day I finished "Locked in".

3.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, 29 Nov 2011
This review is from: Locked In (Jessica Daniel Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
i quite liked it, though bits of it were a little predictable. Maybe i'm a super genius (i'm really not!) but i'd figured out the "how" of the crime from the beginning, and i had an inkling about the "who" long before the villain was revealed. I can't be more specific as i dont want to spoil it...but despite having a good idea as to what would happen i still enjoyed reading it and waiting to see if i was proved right/

The oh-so-feisty police lady started to annoy me a tiny bit, i think all the emphasis on how tough and rude she was was borderline too much...though some of the softer moments stopped her seeming too obvious. id consider reading books by this author again...depending on the price

4.0 out of 5 stars LOCKED IN, 7 Dec 2011

This review is from: Locked In (Jessica Daniel Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
Newly promoted Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniel is somewhat perplexed when a dead body is found in a house where there appears to be absolutely no sign of anyone actually entering or leaving the property. A full investigation goes ahead, and as more bodies are found, again with no sign of entry or exit from the deceased property the detective finds herself entrenched in a seemingly complicated case.
For the most part I did enjoy this book, felt it dipped a little in the middle, but it picked up and there was a reasonably good twist to the story. Worth reading.
