A good read for a holiday, never taxes the brain, you've read it before - m any times, many times. Rather runs to form, reads like it wants to be a screen script, hardly new and exciting, but not a bad read either.

The storyline, however well conceived, is still littered with implausible events and rather cliched moments, which are still enjoyable to read, but detract from the realistic feel. The main downfall's concern the writing. It isn't written particularly well, which can be forgiven since this is Sean Black's first novel, but in some points it seems that there is a loop hole in the story that has been covered up with something that doesn't quite fit, or the story just rushed over it as though it isn't there.

Sean Black is obviously trying desperately to follow in the footsteps of Lee Child but comes up way short of the mark.
His characters are poorly developed action hero clichés full of cheesy one liners. The story is predictable and, quite frankly, boring.
I didn't connect with the characters at all and had little interest in finding out what happened to them in the end...so much so that I gave up about three quarters of the way through.
If Jack Reacher is James Bond then this book is like a cheap B-movie starring Jason Stathom.
His characters are poorly developed action hero clichés full of cheesy one liners. The story is predictable and, quite frankly, boring.

AN EXCELLENT READ
My passion is crime novels and this one is brilliant. I warmed to the main protagonist, Ryan Lock straightaway. Black's writing is similar to Connelly, Child and Coben. Read more
