I've tried a few different types of elastic lace - for me and for the kids. These are the best I've found, though not the cheapest. For triathlons or just to save you tying laces all the time. You have to fit them carefully the first time (follow instructions and check they fit properly before you cut them off), but then you have instant slip-on running shoes/trainers. You do generally have to replace them when you get new shoes, but otherwise they seem to last out the shoe.

My kids are lazy and dislike tying up shoe laces, even though they like buying shoes like the latest Converses. So this is the best thing without resorting to velcro fastened shoes.
Easy to fit and use. Even I've become lazy and fitted a pair to my walking boots. No messy hands getting out of muddy boots!

I was a bit sceptical initially but after lacing up my running shoes I realised that they do exactly what it says on the tin! Excellent laces for Triathletes looking to reduce times in the transition areas but also great for kids slipping in and out of their every day trainers. Highly recommended.
